Absolutely the worst effort...

This is going to be my only post of the day. I have my class reunion in 2 hours and will go and have good time. I want to say I've been a Coach Brandon backer from Day 1. With that said, that "effort" today was undoubtedly the worst I've ever seen in a BG team. There was NO intensity, NO fire, NO heart and I am extremely embarrassed by this outcome. I give credit to Kent State for taking the game by the horns and doing a number on us. 6 freakin turnovers, NO creativity in the play calling at all and a total lack of focus is what I witnessed today.
Hammb, J4H, Tekini and others must have been dead on. I took off the orange and brown glasses today & saw something very disturbing. Will we win another game this year? I honestly don't know. If we play like we did today? Hell no. Gut check time....what's it gonna be, fellas? And it all starts at the top.
The most disturbing thing about the post game press conference was hearing Coach Brandon say "I saw this coming 2 weeks ago". Really???
So, what was done to correct the direction of the team????
I am so frustrated, angy and stunned right now that it will be good to get outta here tonight and spend the night in my hometown.
Please, someone, anyone...tell me this is all a bad dream and I'll wake up and the day will be just starting.
I have never left a game early...NEVER. I did today with 3 minutes left. I couldn't stand to see my son Josh writhing in anguish wanting to go to the bookstore. It was better that way.
Gotta go...on to Athens. Suddenly, I don't feel very confident in our team at the moment and OhioBobcat is starting to sound like he knows what he's talking about. This sucks.

Now that's just crazy talk.
I've said plenty during the chat today, but knowing the feeling in my gut during the Akron game last year and a portion of the UB game this year, I can only imagine what you're feeling brother. Have a good time tonight.

Freak, I hope you had a good time tonight. I definately feel your pain, and you have articulated my feelings very, very well. I didn't hear the "saw this coming" comment, but I heard enough after the game. If I were a bit further along in life I would donate the money tomorrow to buy out Brandon's contract. If I owned a house I'd probably take out a couple of mortgages to see it happen at this point...
I need a beer.

I didn't see the game but I did listen to it.
Here are the post game quotes. I think coach is being honest here. The team is young in a lot of key positions. Many people did see this coming two weeks ago by barely beating Buff and FIU. These guys need to execute it has to be excruciating to watch but I guess I will be the dope that still buys into the theory that this is a young team and it's a rebuilding year.
I agree that improvements need to be made though.

Many people also said that "a win" is a win, that other teams would want to trade places with us, that Buffalo was improving, etc.
Tesla said "nothing deceives like success." There can be no illusions after a defeat like that.

"Anyhow, I am not going to lie or try to paint a rosy picture, but I saw this coming. I saw it coming two weeks ago, we barely beat Buffalo then went on the road and beat an FIU team that was okay."
Anybody still support Brandon after reading this garbage? You saw this coming? Are you freaking kidding me? Now he says we barely beat Buffalo, but back when we beat them, we hear this "It's all good because we won" line of BS that we've heard the last few years. We beat an FIU team that was "okay"? Last week we heard all this crap about how that was a damn good football team we just beat. Now they're just OK. I'll tell you who's just OK -- Kent State. I'll also tell you who's a bottom 10 football team -- Bowling Green. Guess who's fault that is. Gregg Brandon's.
He saw this coming? And he wasn't able to do a damn thing about it in TWO WEEKS? This man has to go. There's no other solution at this point. He's incapable of providing any answers for this young football team. He isn't a leader, and he's a poor excuse for a D1 football coach.
No more sugar coating how I feel about this head coach -- not on this message board, and not in my e-mails to the AD's office.

Slowly but surely, you're seeing the light!

1. OBC, f**k off - not right now. Period.
2. J4H, you are dead on, and I am willing to man up and say that you have been right for a long time. Don't let it go to your head, though.
3. If I hear the word "rebuilding" much more, I may just burn something to the ground. A loss by a touchdown/field goal can be construed as rebuilding. It may be the beer talking, but if, after a loss of this class, you are still willing to accept the rebuilding excuse, you probably want to go see a doctor - you may have a mental handicap.
4. Apparently major disappointments motivate me to list things numerically.

Look at the roster and count how many freshmen and sophomores we have listed and then see how many juniors and seniors we have.
Look at the depth chart of our defense you will see a lot of Fr. and So.'s
The leader of the team which is supposed to be the quarterback is injured he's a sophomore with limited experience. Backups are both freshmen. The only experience we have offensivley are the linemen we knew that coming in. The skill position players are Fr. and So.'s. Seniors include TE's and they have done well.
I hate losing too but coming in many expectations weren't high to begin with. We don't have Charles Sharon or Steve Sanders type receivers right now. We don't have Omar Jacobs under center who can pass the ball. We are limited to a quarterback that is having throwing issues but is one hell of an athlete. If you can't throw that narrows down the play calling. We're not going to throw the long passes. We have to settle for short passes. Defenses can snuff out the run or short pass it's not that tough. So we decide to strip the redshirt off Tyler to open things up. He's a freshman what do people expect? He's going to learn the system. Who knows when or if AT will be back. The program isn't as bad as people try to make it out. We do have athletes who will make an impact. But we are young and kids will learn from their mistakes. Hell the special teams guys are learning from their mistakes.

Like many of you, I feel your pain. And like many of you, I'm lost for answers. Today was a bad dream that was real and there's no other way to explain it. I know how young we are and we have some injuries, but damn.....

I don't like the word "rebuilding" either. It is mostly a media excuse that coaches like to latch on to, and coaches at mediocre programs. Right now, BG is just that, mediocre. I hate to say it, but that is how I feel. The best programs ignore the word and move on. The best thing with the college game is that a player may be with your program 4 years, 5 at best (if they redshirt/transfer). The best coaches plan accordingly. The top teams in the Big Ten, PAC Ten, SEC, Big 12, etc., are able to plan for the graduation/early departure of their best players and stock up on talent. Even Toledo and Marshall have done the same. Why can't we?
At the onset of the season, I kept hearing here in Columbus how OSU was "rebuilding" their defense, with the loss of three outstanding linebackers and a total of 8 or 9 of their defensive starters. But, when you look at the scores of their games, the Buckeyes have only given up 12, 7, 7, and 6 points respectively against the nations best running back, the defending national champions, and (fill in the blank for UC) team, and the 24th ranked team in the country. This is "rebuilding"?
While BG lost a great QB in Jacobs, we can't forget that AT got plenty of PT last season when OJ was hurt. He has had plenty of time to blend in with his receivers and get acclimated to the game. Yet, can the team really trust his interest when he gets busted for dope and doesn't really seem to show any remorse for it? What public apologies has he made, what efforts has he made on campus to show students that he made a mistake, what efforts has he made to get the trust of his teammates?
On top of that, we have been saying how bad the defense is for going on three years. Why? You can't win without defense. Scoring 40 points a game and winning isn't something BG is capable of doing on a consistant basis. Heck, scoring even 10 points has been an issue in the two losses.
I am not in BG or NWO so I only know what I read on the Blade's website, BGSU Falcons.com, and this site, along with the occasional blurb in the Dispatch. What needs to be done? Winning breads winning, but unfortunately BG can't seem to continue that trend. Instead winning breads high expectations and big time failures.

My favorite Coach Brandon comment was regarding Kent's offensive pace. He complained about our defensive players not being ready for the plays when they were snapped. Uh......the defensive players were staring at the sideline waiting for the defensive set to get called by.........the coaches! Kent did a really good job throughout the first half getting snaps off before we had guys anywhere near where they were supposed to be.

Neither does Kent. Or Buffalo. Or FIU.
KSU's QB is a sophomore without much experience -- a sophomore who took over for an injured starter. We are not the only program in the MAC with these problems.
My expectations coming into this season were to go about .500 overall, possibly compete for the MAC East title. I expected to have some growing pains, but to see progess as the season moves along. What I didn't expect was to get the worst team in the MAC to take us to 3OT, and get shellacked by the second-worst team in the MAC. We looked far worse today than we did in the first 3 games. This team is REgressing, and it's not because AT got injured. That's just another excuse for the current regime to fall back on. I've seen no progress, and I see the same old problems getting worse and worse with every year.
One words sums up the direction of this program. Unacceptable.

Since you brought this up, I have something to say that is really bothering me, and Brandon brought it up in the post game conference. Does he have something against Corey Partridge? He was talking about playmakers needing to step up and mentioned Corey by name. And everytime Corey has been hurt he seems to call him out about that as well. Saying s**t like Partridge has got to get healthy or learn to play with some pain. He said that last year and he said it again this year. And then he calls him out of all the players that pissed down their leg today? I thought that was crap. How can a WR step up when the frinkin QB is throwing the ball 10 feet over his head when he is wide open? Brandon is pointing the finger in the wrong direction, IMO. Wonder if Spart has noticed any of this or has some thoughts?

Brandon has continually thrown his players under the bus over his tenure. It's one of the biggest reasons I think he's a terrible head coach. He blamed Omar for the 2004 Toledo collapse -- you know, the one in which he (Brandon) pissed down his leg the entire second half? He also just threw an injured Big Bird under the bus after the Buffalo game about kickoff problems. He's done it a bunch of other times as well. Excuses are about all I ever hear from the man.
Brandon is not a leader, and it shows on the field every week.
