Some thoughts regarding Sept. 23, 2006

1. This is the most embarassing day I have known since transferring to BGSU. I would even bet that Moe Ankney and Gary Blackney are blushing.

2. It is obvious that Gregg Brandon and his staff are going to be simply outcoached as long as they are here. I give them credit for two bowl wins and the Purdon't win, but it has been nothing but absurd watching these guys have their asses handed to them so much lately.

3. I'm glad it didn't rain.

4. Congratulations to KSU.

5. I hate KSU fans who 99.9999% of the time don't give a flying crap about their alma mater, but as soon as their football team does something for the first time in three decades they are crawling out of the woodwork to tell you how much better their university is than yours. Their team earned it on the field today, but their fans are bush.

6. I have driven home from Bowling Green red-in-the-face-angry twice this year. I've never done that before.

7. I need a lot of beer.

8. I hope JoPa is OK. I was sad to hear that he needed to leave the field during the game today. He is one of the few "good guys" left in this silly game.

It's been obvious ever since he took over. Things are not going to improve as long as he is here. He's driven the program lower than I've ever seen it. Granted, I've only been a fan since 2000, but today was flat out embarassing. I'm so disgusted I don't even want to think about BG football.

I implore everybody who will not accept this type of futility to let those in charge at BG know how you feel.

I was in Miami in 1989 when they had a 20 game losing streak, longest in the nation, and beat a Moe Ankney led team. Brent Musberger put it on the NFL Today show the next day. (His son went to Miami)

I remember Gary Blackney losing to Buffalo, who at the time had the longest losing streak in the nation.

There have been worse days than today.

According to Todd Walker there have never been worse days at the Doyt.

He said that it was the worst home loss in the history of the Doyt. Maybe he was mistaken, but the fact that it was even mentioned makes it pretty bad.



I give Brandon credit for the Purdue win, that was a great game. However, the signs of how overmatched he was really started to reveal themselves in the OSU game that year. I honestly think we should've won that game. The coaching staff called a terrible game, and I started to question them.

Throughout the years I've become convinced that we have one of the worst 10-15 coaching staffs in all of D1A football. What's worse is that they seem have some arrogant attitude that they've done such a great job and are irreplaceable.

I actually expected us to lose this game today, but I was really shocked to have it be so embarrassing.

Ok, I'm not that big a dick but I love seeing some optimism in the program. The drop football crowd was/is? a major embrassment. I don't think BG will be that bad for that long.

What bothers me the most about Brandon is that is that he keeps getting worse. He was a better coach on September 6, 2003 then he is today. How that is possible just baffles me. I know he had the fortune of having some really good players on his first two teams, but there is no way we was coaching this badly then. I would really like to know what goes through his head. And at his practices. And...

There were some pretty bad home losses (1967 v. Toledo for example) but this is near the top.

I had the same feeling leaving this game that I did leaving last year's WMU loss....this team got drilled because it wasn't ready to play football.

Teams aren't afraid of coming into the Doyt because they know we aren't going to be ready to take it to them for 60minutes. They just waltz into our stadium and smack us in the mouth and we don't respond. They beat us up physically and we don't hava an answer. Game after game you see it in the way the other kids carry themselves. They step onto our field and they really load up. They aren't tentative and they are the least bit rattled.

They swagger onto our field and beat us up.

The NIU game in 2003 and the UT game in 2003 sure as hell weren't like that. NIU never had a chance and UT got smacked around physically in that second half...the TOP was something like 2-1 in our favor. Marshall
sure as hell didn't like being here in 2004...they put CMac out on a stretcher and we responded by running them right out of the conference.

I don't know....this team needs to decide right now if they can live with coasting along. If they can...we'll see more games like this one. OU is looking to tear our asses next week...we have beaten them like they were little kids the last few years and they know they have a chance to get some payback next week. They're going to be looking to take a lot of frustration out on us.....I hope this team understands that....

Brandon can blame youth the whole season long, but youth does not cause this team apathy that we seem to be going through. We play with no heart or intensity.

After a loss of this magnitude, I have to think that Brandon should start considering whether he should step down after the season.

As BG sports fans, we're in holding pattern in both basketball and football. We're watching programs that are not viable and waiting for coaches' contracts to expire. It sucks.
