Corey's Performance

I probably shouldn't be saying this......
I should just keep my mouth shut.....
But....
I guess Coach Brandon was watching another game then the one I watched yesterday.
I thought Corey was giving a great effort. He seemed to be one of the few that was giving everything he had.
Corey had 3 catches. It seems that the ball was thrown his way about 10-12 times. He caught every ball that was possible to catch.
He was open for an easy touchdown over the middle early in the game. The ball sailed 15 yards over his head. Yeah, he didn't even jump for it. It was that far over his head. I guess that is not giving effort.
He had another possible TD that was thrown too high and too far in front of him down near the 8 yard line. He jumped and touched that one. I think that was the 3rd quarter. He also prevented an interception by jumping high and tipping a ball away, that was thrown way over his head. I guess that is not giving effort.
Corey has somewhere around a 36 inch vertical. Not exceptional but pretty damn good. If he is jumping for balls and barely touching them then the ball is not catchable. If he is wide open and doesn't jump for a ball over his head, it is definately not catchable.
I know alot of you at the game probably don't focus on Corey's routes. Well I watch him on every play. Corey was open constantly over the middle. How many were thrown to him over the middle. Maybe one!
If you want to call a player out for not being tough or playing with pain. You should pick another player. Corey played the whole season last year with a separated shoulder that was injured in the 3rd quarter of the first game. Then he played the complete 2nd half of last season with both shoulders separated. How many weeks did Corey sit out to allow them to heal? He missed one game all season. Sorry, I don't buy it that he doesn't play with pain. How many times did we see him come out last year with a stinger after giving up his body to block on a running play. And then go back in the very next play. Corey has a partial tear of his MCL. He missed two games and came back to play at FIU just 4 weeks after the injury. That was way to early for my comfort.
It's not Corey's fault that you cannot get the ball to him. It's not Corey's effort when he is constantly overthrown. It proves the point that he is working hard and giving effort to get open when you throw to him as often as you did. Because he was open every time the ball was thrown his way.
Yeah, you miss Sanders and Sharon, but neither one of them could have caught more than 3 passes yesterday given the same throws Corey was given. Because they were not catchable.
How frustrating to watch Corey standing in the middle of the field wide open and have the ball thrown into double coverage on the outside. How frustrating to see Corey running free down the side lines with the ball thrown 5 yards down the field to a receiver running an out with the DB in his back pocket.
Maybe Coach Brandon should watch the game before he starts calling players out for their effort. Apparently he was somewhere else Saturday.
Lets take one of the last players to believe in you and work hard for you and give everything he has for you and turn him against you.
Yeah, Corey turned 21 on Friday, thanks for the wonderful birthday present. I sure he realizes now how much you care about him as a person. Because he is a person and not just another body to throw into the fire when things go bad. Look to yourself for the answers and move forward, don't sit around pointing fingers.
I have been one of Coach Brandons biggest supporters, I like him, I think he is a good coach. I think he does have passion for winning. I think he is very much a die hard Falcon and wants the best for BGSU. I liked him from the first time I meet him. I felt comfortable placing Corey in his care. With this I am beginning to question my opinion of him.

With that said, I still believe in this team and this coaching staff. Yes this is a young team and with a young team, when things go bad they can really go bad. But the opposite is also true. Be prepared for a roller coaster ride this season. They will shock you by their play in losses and they will shock you by their play in wins. But they will learn and improve.
I stated earlier in some other posts that we have to just keep going and learning. We have to avoid the bumps in the road early so our young guys can mature for the last half of the season. Well we hit this bump, its not the end of the world. Right the ship and get the win at Ohio. Take them one week at a time. And support this team and coaching staff with every ounce of strength you have. For we are BGSU!
