Not a positive sign....

Tonight on Fox 36 Brad Fanning had some coverage of BG's press conference/meeting/whatever.

Kory Lichtenstiegerreieger said that he didn't think he or the team was ready to play on Saturday against Kent (a statement that I most certainly agree with). They then cut to Gregg Brandon...he said, "well...I'll have to talk to him to find out why he wasn't ready to play" (or words to that effect)

Ok...I thought the game film showed that everyone was working hard (maybe they meant hardly working?) but now I'm hearing one of the five blocks of granite on the news telling the media that he (and the team) wasn't/weren't ready to play seemingly before he shared that info with his coach.

I really don't like the looks of this....

I have no words, but I share your concern, Flip.

Something is obviously out of whack with this team, and has been for some time now. The big question is, can Brandon fix what he's broken?

I don't know, I asked Corey the other night about Team Unity. He said it was Good...

Hello this is my first time doing this so bear with me here.
I was just wondering what the big deal of him saying they weren't ready to play is? He saw the film I'm sure and hejust made the judgement that they weren't ready to play...

I think Brandon's response is more at question here......

RUIT - yep. It's a concern that someone you would consider a team leader (Korey) would make such a statement without the coach having an inkling what it meant.

Here is a quote from Brandon that got my attention:

Even with Anthony injured, did you feel OK about your personnel for the Kent State game?
"Yes. I thought we could win the game with the guys we had. Tells you what I know."

Wow. Was he trying to be funny or admitting that he is clueless as a coach?

Would love to see the video on that one. My guess would be it's a combination of frustration and depression.

He was trying to be funny. Coach Brandon attempts humor more than some realize. He is not necessarily good at it, but sometimes its funny and sometimes its not. He may just need to try and chose his timing alittle better.

Either way, that is still not something I want to hear our coach saying in public. There is no good way to take that quote. IMO, there is only negative outcomes from such a statement. One being that the team also loses faith in his ability to coach and we spiral down the drain like in the Blackney era.

From living with a lot of the freshman fb players last year I can assure you, that at least at the younger levels, these guys have full 100% faith in GB as a coach. They all love the guy. Its not even like he's really trying to be their pals or anything either, they all just have some profound respect for him that I can't see going away any time soon even with those kinds of comments to the media.

I'm probbaly the biggest GB sycophant on this board. But, I found the whole thing to be odd...maybe this is just another one of those cases that the left is always talking about with Fox where they bend reality?

I like Fox News...Juliet Huddy and Kieran Chetry ROCK

You're right about that. He makes different kind of remarks all the time during his radio show. If you printed the transcript and didn't hear HOW he said certain things, it would come across a LOT differently! It's time to put the Kent game away and MOVE ON!!

GO FALCONS!!
STOMP THE BOBCATS!!!
