Anthony Turner/Progress

Post by Globetrotter »

I listened to the game online today. For those of you who watched the game, do you feel that Anthony Turner showed progress as a passer today? If not do you feel that getting Sheehan some snaps might make sense?

My thougths today were this....

1. We seem to be solid at RB. Be it Bullocks/Barnes or Macon one of those three will be a solid RB. That is ignoring Thomas from last year, who may be back.
2. OL is solid as usual.
3. We seem to have another starter in Barnes. Either at RB or WR or some variation he needs to be on the field. He is our most dynamic and most productive player. Lining him up at both WR and RB would seem to make him even more dangerous because teams have to always search for where he is at. I would also have him take atleast two direct snaps a game. One run and one pass. Then you have to follow him even more.
4. The DL is going to be as good as that Brandon Hicks DL very soon.
5. Dozier and White are great LBs.
6. I am not sure of who is going to come out of that mess of solid players at S and CB. It seems K Lewis, A Smith and Sanderson all have there positions secure....regardless everyone on the 2 deep is seeing time and making plays. I don't feel slow on Defense anymore.
7. We need to get rid of the punt formation.
8 We need to use Winovich more. Perhaps an H-Back role?

I have been offered many tickets to next weeks game. I will not be attending. Not because I don't love BG. But because I hate Buckeye fans and I just don't think we can compete with this team. Very soon I think that won't be true. If we beat them next week I will take my couch outside to the street and light it ablaze.

Barnes is a capable WR.

Turner will not progress until we open up the offense some more. I don't know if that will happen this year for a number of reasons. He did not look good throwing the deep ball, but his intermediate pasing game is coming along nicely when we let him chuck it a bit.

I don't think Ohio's O-line is very good at all, but if the front four can get consistent pressure without blitzing, as they did today, this defense can be very good this year.

I thought the way they used Barrnes today was perfect. He's a capable receiver (which we need), and he is a deadly runner in the red zone.

Great point, FB in the backfield in the redzone means he can get a direct snap, we can hand off to him he can run a route, but he absolutely must be accounted for. A few plays outside of short yardage to keep them honest but that sounds great ....a wr and red zone back

AT was a bit rusty yesterday after missing the Kent game. He was hesitant when running the ball and didn't hit the holes nearly fast enough. I can't say I blame him for being a bit touchy right now. We were able to pound the ball and basically dictate the flow of the game. I'll take wins like this any day of the week.
