Absolutely wonderful column, and I agree, this should be in at least the BG News, if not the Sentinel Tribune as well. BG students need to see this and realize there's more to life than OSU, especially if you attend BG.

This needs to be posted all around the University. Very well written. I hope the football players read this and know that there are many of us backing them this Saturday and want them to bring back a win.

That is very well written and deserves to be read by all BG students. The sad thing is though is that more than half of the student body will read maybe the first paragraph or two and stop just because it mentioned that they should root for BG instead of OSU on saturday. Another extremely sad thing is that I know of several FMB members that will be rooting for OSU even though they will be in a Bowling Green Marching Band Uniform. It's things like that that just irk me!! And yes, I did just say irk!!
In any case,

I am not a fan of tOSU, I will be rooting for our great Falcons this Saturday. Not to be mean to any Buckeye fans who are students here, but it makes me sick a little bit to know that you like Ohio State more than you love the great Bowling Green State University. Granted, as the article states that many of the fans have grown up knowing not knowing where they were going to go, I understand this. At least cheer for the Falcons this time. They are representing the university that you are getting your education from. GO FALCONS!!!

As a student I see this everyday. I will be attending this Saturday's game sitting in the BG section proudly wearing my Orange and Brown cheering for the upset of the century. I am also praying that I dont run into any fellow students wearing scarlet and grey.

Here's one falcon who will don his marching band uniform and boast it proudly everywhere we go down there this weekend. I only hope we get invited to the skull session again so that we can go toe to toe with tbdbil and show them what we're made of once more.

Excellent points. Unfortunately, Strouse is spot on - most BG student/OSU fans will shrug their shoulders and say "you just don't understand" and root for the Buckeyes anyway.

Some of us will never understand the mystique of following theOSU buckeyes even though you never went to school there. I've got neighbors like that...Akron grads flying the Bucs flag out front every weekend.

I grew up in Rochester NY and came out here to BG for college, so the fond memories of Woody Hayes punching the Clemson player are lost on me.

I hope to pick up some later parts of the game on the car radio as I will be going back home for a high school reunion (Go MCQ!!) and coming back Sat afternoon. I wonder if I should be a homer and listen and root for Syracuse?

Nah, their not enough of a front-runner for me to latch my identity on to!

There's a guy who lives 2 doors down from me, and every OSU game I always see him wearing his scarlet and gray jersey, if I see him wearing it there's going to be a problem.

OMG...

Seriously, that just gave me goosebumps and got my eyes misty. Freakin eh! I LOVE THIS VIEW!!! Well said!! 34 1/2 point dogs or not, this game is winnable. Let them laugh...BG just needs to play better ball for 60 full minutes. What happened in the past has no bearing on this game. I've had 20 OSU fans (1 grad, most of the others are Kent and Akron grads) ask me already this week if I am "Ready for the beatdown coming this Weekend". I'm ready for the upset of the year....maybe the decade. BG has proven in the first 3 meetings we ain't a pushover in the Shoe.

Hey, if a bunch of college kids were able to beat the best hockey team in the world in 1980....

BTW, my boys are being conditioned to be BGSU fans only....despite Grandma's effort to push OSU on them. Granted, 2 of their kids went to OSU but the third went to Ohio U. Where's the love for the Bobcats, Grandma? To be fair, she has purchased numerous BGSU shirts for me recently as they live in Huron and the Firelands Campus is right down the road.

For all the folks out there that will root for OSU before their own school, Mrs. Freak, a 1989 OSU grad, will be decked out in orange and brown and screaming for BG....just like her pretty face was in 1992, 1997 and 2003. We got one to jump to our side. LOL.

Paul, that was simply beautiful. ROCK ON BROTHER!!!

At work this morning we were trying to come up with a comparison if BG were to pull the upset this Saturday. The 1980 Olympic hockey team over the USSR was the best comparison we could come up with.

Wow!

If this kid ever decides to put down the microphone and take up the pen full-time I'm sure he'd do well.

I worked at WBGU and did play-by-play for basketball and it gives me great pleasure to see someone in that position who is so articulate, bright and has a passion for BGSU sports.

Great job Paul B.

Go Falcons!
