The test.

I realize, with each day inching closer and closer to the Falcons/Buckeyes football game, that this game is a test. Not for the player, but for our students/fans. More and more people keep downing the falcons, about how it will be a 'blow-out' and aren't even giving them any credit.
Like today while eating dinner at Commons, a guy who works there asked Nick how the food was, and he replied with good. Following that the kid then responded back with, good, now the only thing we need to do is get you out of that hat. Remind you he was wearing a BGSU hat. Then another girl chimed in with, I tell the football players I'm a OSU fan and they'll win, and they just put their heads down at me.
She basically smacked them in the face and told them they were worthless. At least in my opinion. Anyways, what I'm saying is is that we will see who the TRUE falcons are for who they root for.

Damn those buckeyes.

Uhh I feel your pain. I went out to the bars last weekend after the Ohio game and you would have thought we were in Columbus. So frustrating! The one thing that pisses me off the most is that freakin Ohio State flag hanging across from campus. I have offered many people 20 bucks to steal that thing.

Kaleena,

I love your Falcon Spirit!!!! It's tough being a fan of any other team besides OSU in this state. On my job, it's not even Wednesday and I've had tons of insults hurled at me by OSU fans....and only one is an actual OSU grad. All the others are grads of Akron, Kent, and others.
I back my team and my University...and no other. To me, that's what is means to be a TRUE FALCON!

GO BG!

You'll notice I've been quiet all week....that's because this is a family board and I've been a little on-edge about the traitors at this school.

You guys have to remember, as has been stated many times, people grew up being Buckeye fans. You can't call them traitors or mock them for not graduating from OSU, but rather Kent or Ohio. People follow a team their whole life, but then go to college somewhere else that has their program, like BGSU.

Please let's all just relax and realize that we all like more than one team in some aspect of life and let's be a little more tolerant of people.

Traitor is a somewhat ridiculous word to call these people.

OSU football is very serious in Ohio, and draws people to it regardless of where they went to school. It is just a fact of life. Now, would I like a student at BG to, maybe, fly both flags? Sure. But OSU is Ohio's team, and it is always going to be that way.

But it isn't my team.

Nor mine. Can't stand OSU. But you get the idea.

What's in question is not necessarily whether or not people are also OSU fans. What's in question is the fact that people who attend BGSU are so blindly faithful to OSU (a school they do not attend) that they're willing to put down their own University and their own team because of it.
Nobody's asking them to completely drop all allegiance to OSU (or at least they shouldn't be), but for God's sakes, have some pride in your school and your teams!
That said, here comes a bit of my pride:
GO FALCONS! CRUSH THE BUCKEYES!

Exactly! OSU is not giving you you're degree, BGSU is. If you want to give back to OSU, transfer.

Another sorry ass excuse to put your school second. God forbid you change your priorities.

Coming from a family where almost everyone graduated from OSU and growing up rooting for the Buckeyes it's hard to just stop rooting for them. I applied to both OSU and BG and decided on BG. Now I still root for OSU and hope they go 12-1 this year. So I say it's ok to root for 2 teams as long as when they play one another you root for your school.
PS- I'll be there Saturday proudly wearing my orange and brown.

People can root for whoever they want. You might think they're a traitor, or stupid, or assish, or whatever for doing it, but they can do whatever they want.

I still root pretty hard for Michigan. Not as much as I used to, since BG eclipsed them by far the second I stepped into the Doyt for my first game, but I still root for them every week after or before the BG game. If they were to play BG, I'm chanting kill Meat-Chicken with the rest of the Falcons, as I do for hockey games against those bastards.

However, if I chose to root for Michigan against BG in hockey this year, I wouldn't give a damn what any of you people said. I will root for whoever I please.

Of course I would never do that, because Michigoon hockey SUCKS. Just sayin' :)

The point is, you're not going to change their mind by calling them names, so why bother? It's not the way it SHOULD be in my, and most other die-hard Falcons' opinions, but it's just the way it is.

Just like they have the right to root for whoever they please, do I not have the right to tell them my opinion of their team of choice?

I can honestly say there's only 2 people I've ever genuinely said something to about their "allegiances." Perhaps the most glaring was last year's OSU hockey game where the guy would root for whoever was winning and then insulted us when we called him out on it.

Most of my jabs consist of "What's that zero stand for?" when I see someone wearing the Block "O" hat.
