OSU game behind us, time to get back to work in the MAC

I'm glad the OSU game is behind us and out of the way now. I saw some thing I liked and saw some things I didn't like today against the Buckeyes, but it went about as I expected. Now, we jump right back into MAC action where it really counts for us. We've got a very important game against EMU coming up next week (with a very tough game at CMU after that) and we need to get back out there and get a win to keep within striking distance in the MAC race. Kent State is 3-0 in the East, and with Ohio beating WMU today, the Bobcats pulled even with BG at 2-1 in the standings. The EMU game is our next to last home game of the season, it's Homecoming, the weather looks like it could be nice, and we need a win. I have a feeling the MAC race is going to come down to the final week of the year, and we need to get back out there and get a win to be in the thick of thing if it does.

33, I pretty much agree with this. At this point I said we would be 4-2, but the loss to Kent screwed that scenario up. Looking to the remaining schedule, we need to beat the winless teams at home EMU and Miami, that gives us a little bit of leeway heading to our tougher games of CMU, Akron, and Toledo. Honestly, I felt we would pull a win out of the Rubber Bowl since day 1 of this season, and I still think we will. Toledo looks bad, and its possible we could win there as well as I had projected us to lose that one, same goes for CMU. Central Mich is easily our toughest game remaining. It's an absolute crime that game is only on ESPNU. As for Ohio, I'm not too concerned about the Bobcats beating us out, although their win over WMU today was impressive. IF they beat Kent State down the line, then they could probably contend.

At this point, as weird as this sounds, we may have to root for Toledo to pull out a victory in Kent next week, otherwise, you might as well put Kent to 6-0 in the MAC for sure after they dust Buffalo and EMU. That leaves the Bobcats, and then they have to go to Muncie in their last game of the season. Balls Tate has stung some teams there in recent years, but realistically, we need any 2 of these three, Toledo, Ball State, and Ohio, to beat Kent to put us back in it. An Ohio win would be especially helpful as it could set up a possible 3-way tie scenario between us, Kent, and Ohio.

Of course, I'm reading WAY too far into this. Given the MACs upside-down status this season, anything could still happen. Who would have thought Toledo, Akron, and Miami would be sitting on October 7 without a conference win, and that Kent would be undefeated?!

Ball State has plugged in freshman Nate Davis as the starting QB. His older brother Jose played QB for Kent State in the late 90's. (He eve lead them to a win over BG). Nate Davis may be the most talented QB o enter the conference since Big Ben...

Ball Stae will beat Kent, Toledo will beat Kent and OU might beat Kent. We can beat everyoone left on our schedule. I think we lose at CMU and maybe Toledo.

We'll be playing for a bowl game in Novemebr...

I think you may be right.

Balls Tate handled Buffalo pretty good today. With some close calls they've had in recent weeks, they may have turned a corner. This is gonna be a crazy ride to Nov. 21.

If we play like we did the last two weeks, with teh heart and intensity...the only team that can stay with us the rest of the way is CMU. Our schedule the rest of the way is very weak except for that game.

GO FALCONS!!! BEAT EMU!!!!!

I think it's very possible Kent will lose 2 or 3 games in MAC play. UT, as poorly as they've played the last couple weeks, is backed into a corner. When that happens, UT usually responds under Tom A. Ball State will beat Kent in Munice. I think Kent could lose to Ohio (if they played like they did against WMU and NIU) and even Buffalo. The Bulls can be a pretty spunky bunch at home. There is a ton of ball left and BG is very much alive. BG can beat every team left on the sked. CMU worries me the most.

GO FALCONS!

This season is like "last team standing." Every week you stay in the race is a week you have a shot at being that team.
