Student Section at Ohio State Game

Looking at the sections next to the Falcon Band, this is where the BGSU "Student" sections was according to the ticket office when we got our tickets. Only about 1/3 were in Orange. When we last played at tOSU, the entire section was dressed in Orange. If students are not going to wear orange and support the team, why not sell the tickets to team family members or season tickets holders that go to most away games and wear orange. Thoughts?

I do not think we sold our ticket allotment so I think a bulk of them went back to OSU.
However, I was on myspace yesterday and happened to see some people I graduated with all decked out in colors that were not brown and orange. Pretty F'n disgusting if you ask me.

As a matter of fact, I know personally TWO BG students who wore OSU garb to the game....and I wasn't a happy camper....even though my wife had warned me to expect it, I still was pretty P.O.'d.... basically said to one of them, "when did you transfer schools?", just so he knew I wasn't too happy. And frankly, I'm tired of the old, "I grew up a Buckey fan" argument. When YOUR school is playing OSU, be proud of it... I sometimes think these kids are actually ashamed to admit their "real" school![/b]

While in line at the Visiting Team Player Will Call, two tOSU fans dressed in their scarlet/silver got into line behind me. I said "Are you in the right line?" and they replied "Yes, we are on one of the players lists." The girl DID have a black bgsu hat on though. Seemed rude to me to get in for free from a BG PLAYER and wear that crap.

I've seen at least 5 albums posted on Facebook with current BG students wearing OSU jerseys. buckeye necklaces and OSU press-on tattoos on their faces. This is really pissing me off.
That said, I have a friend who transfered from BG -> OSU (and eventually CSCC) who went down to tailgate and wore OSU stuff and BGSU press-ons. It's shocking that someone who transfered has more respect for her
former school than some current students do for their
current school.

I was very irritated to see BG alum and current students "bow" down to the scarlet and gray.
One person (who couldn't attend) asked me what I was wearing, I replied - ORANGE. Then they asked me if I was wearing anything else - referring to support the buckeyes...
I can't tell you the number of people I saw wearing both!

For ONE game an Alum can't be true to there school....
Yes many are OSU fans b/c they grew up that way (I am), but lets be proud of your Alma matter.
I've heard and seen former athletes not support there alma matter when it comes to OSU or any support for Falcon athletics. I don't understand how one can just turn there back on the school who gave them an opportunity to get a degree.

We have to face that we cannot compete let alone keep our fan support when BG is in columbus. I propose that on these message boards we stop referring to ohio state as osu, tosu, ohio state or what have you. Lets refer to them as "that school down south." I realize it would be ripping michigan off, but so what..... Any takers??

I disagree. I will not refer to them any different than I do to any other team we face. Treating them different makes them different and I view them as just one more team on our schedule. When they are not on our schedule I follow them. A long time ago someone decided some college football teams were different than others and now we have the BCS. I won't buy into that line of thinking.

MOVE ON. How many posts are we going to have about this crap. It was a team. We played them. We lost as many expected. Lets move on. I'm not going to call anyone anything but what they are. It is silly to put this much energy and focus into a school. We're acting like we're jealous of the pride that eveyone has in them. Show your own BG pride instead of worrying about everyone else's lives.
see y'all in a few days

that's fair and consistent with what we deal with at miami so it's not unique to bg. that said, i go into buffalo wild wings around kick off on saturday and 70% of the crowd is wearing osu gear and "hang on sloopy" is playing on the juke box. we started yelling "go falcons" and people just stared. i was amazed and apalled. we had a pretty big hockey game saturday night so i guess i just didn't see it coming, but it was bad. if we had played football saturday afternoon, i wonder if the attendance would have been as bad as it was sunday night because all the students would have been watching osu/bg? these off night espn games are beginning to drag on me and we have one more against bg in november. i live in columbus, so i deal with the evil empire (and their fans) everyday. i try to get bg alums, ou alums, miami alums to support their school, but i just can't get through to them that it's silly to disavow your alma mater for osu. such is life...
