This is a thread to post your ideas and thoughts about a Doyt L. Perry Statue in or near the stadium.

Here is a Bear Bryant statue from Alabama.

I know he's dead...but do they have to lay him down like that. Seems to me you'd want him standing...right?

WOW, that was some fast work those guys did. It's only been 30 seconds since that last picture was there of him laying down. I like him better laying down...its "different" that way.

The statues (they have a bunch honoring other coaches- Frank Thomas, Gene Stallings, Wade Wallace) are wrapped in blue before their unveiling.

This plaza leads in to the stadium and they sold bricks all along it:

I'd put Perry in the stadium, in a place people can walk right up to.

But that's just me.

I like the idea of selling bricks and paving entrances with them.

Did we do something like that for the Sebo? We should.

I am in for one.

That is a very popular fundraiser. We did that when we put on the hockey renovation a few years ago. They also did it at the Bowen Thompson Student Union. I am surprised they haven't done that for the Sebo! Maybe someone should suggest it!!

Depending on the price, me too. I'd love to leave some sort of legacy here, and why not do so while supporting BG athletics.
(oh, and by the way: best. signature. ever.)

I've left many "legacies" in the alley beside Spots...

I still like my fountain/reflecting pool idea, but I wonder if "stealing" an idea like the one shown here and making a sort of "monument park" in the south endzone with a Doyt statue and plaques or busts or whatever for some of the bigger names or whatever.

Then again, who knows what might be planned for that endzone...

They have those little lovely bricks in the Student Union.

Man, Alabama sure has a sweet looking crib.

I'd like to see a statue of Doyt inside the stadium...maybe near the Sebo Center when it's completed. That small wall plaque on the West side doesn't begin to do the man justice. He was simply the best...
