Spring scrimmage 2005

Anybody at the Spring game in 2005? AT and Omar in an offensive shootout. Why doesn't AT throw deep passes like that now? Is it due to current recievers, maybe slower pace of scrimmage and no fear of taking hits gave him the time that he needed for reads? Anyway I am just trying to figure out the difference in his passing from then to now.

My guess is a mix of the current receivers, not 100% from his shoulder injury, and the overall slower pace. I don't think he would be afraid to take hits, rushing as much as he does.

He isn't throwing against our 2005 secondary anymore either.

While there is some truth to this, He did throw it around pretty good in the spring game 2006. I know Corey had alot of catches in the spring game. They don't throw the ball Corey's way even close to as much as they did in the spring game. I just think the pressure and speed of a real live game is quite different than spring scrimmages. I think we continue to get better in the passing game each week. We are going to need it tomorrow night.

it still seems like they are afraid to open up the playbook, and also he has missed a lot of reads this year so far and had guys wide open and missed them. remember we've got him for 2 more years after this along with partridge. i still think his best game was the osu game cuz it seemed like the coaches were willing to call any play.

Just remember that longer, sustained drives gives our defense more times to rest and in return a better chance of succeeding.

Winning the field possesion battle in the first half might not be fun, exciting, ESPN Top Play material , but it can pay dividends when we need to stop a team in the fourth quarter.

Well it seems like to me whether it is football, basketball, or hockey these scrimmages always make us think we are better than we actually are. Like Spart said these are game like situations but they are not the real thing.

It seems like Turner locks onto his primary receiver too much and doesn't go through his reads completely. The spread offense calls for the QB to make quick decisons and get the ball out quickly. But, it seems Omar did a much better job at going to his second and third options. I hope Turner develops this quickly. Some QBs have that skill naturally and some develop it...while others never seem to get it.
