Do BGSU fans really like OSU/UM?

Post by niucob86 »

This came up on our board and I can't believe it!
Do Falcons or Rockets really like OSU or UM for instance?
NIU fans HATE the Fighting Illini and Northwestern.
I can't wait to see the Huskies open the can of wup a$$ at Evanston in 2005.
May I get some clarification please?

My opinion is that it runs the gammut here. Some have been long-time Buckeye/Wolverine fans before they were Falcons, and hence still root for the Bucks. Others on the board think that you are traitorous pond scum if you follow any Big Ten team. Some, though, crossed the line last year when they were rooting FOR the Bucks in the BG/OSU game just b/c OSU had a shot at a repeat NC visit. That's awful and for sure those people are traitorous pond scum! MAN! I wish we had the Bucks this year!!! With they way they are playing, we could easily be viewed as the best team in the State!!!!

I LOVE BG, I don't mind OSU but sometimes laugh when they lose and I could care less about UM. There's a lot of teams out there I don't mind being that I am a huge college football fan, but I only have one favorite team and that is BG.
GO BG!!!

I root for Ohio State and Michigan when they play Penn State because it makes things fun at work. Other than that, my general feeling toward both programs is apathy.

In Hockey, I hate them both.

In other sports, my reaction can be summed up thusly: "eh".

I'm definitely a Michigan fan but 2nd to BG of course! If BG and Michigan played in any sport, I'd be cheering for the Brown and Orange anyday! Being part Michigan fan, you can guess my opinion of OSU though.

You must realize that the BG/Toledo area is the midway point between both universities and like it or not, UM-tOSU is the best rivalry in college football bar none so it creates massive division in the ranks and a TON of interest.

Personally...I despise tOSU and root for Michigan against them...other than that...I cheer for UM to lose so I can listen to Ann Arbor sports talk radio which is quite entertaining after a UM loss.

Like Tom said you cannot compare Illinois and Northwestern to Michigan and OSU who put more than 100k in their stadiums. People around here were brought up to love OSU or Michigan, it's hard to change that. I love the Falcons and root for every team that plays OSU.

If you are in the Big 11, I hate you. With these exceptions. I too grew up a UM fan, and then i hated them, but now i sorta like them again. This is because the only way to feed my ever growing hatred fo rthe suckeyes is to like UM more. Ive almost maxed out my hatred-o-meter. Also, ever since we went to Purdue, I have had an uncontrolled desire to see them win. I can't explain it. But I was really pulling for them to jsut smash through the Big 11...lousy Wisconsin.....

As far as rockettes go, me unfortunatly being one by definition.... technically.... I guess.... I can say that everyone at the university is an ohio state fan. All of them. So they liek toledo and osu, quite a bad combo if you ask me. it also makes the VAST majority of them incredibly inane.

I personally am an OSU fan. I watch there football games when there is no conflict with the BG games. I even manage to make it to a few OSU each year. I have been an OSU fan way before I've been a BG fan. But when it comes down to BG and OSU competing against one another in any sport, my heart is with the falcons. I also posess the same hatred for scUM as I do for Toledo.
If you go to Toledo or you like Toledo, you suck!!!

Falcons and Buckeyes

Post by SW-MI Falcon »

I have been a Buckeye fan my whole life and very proud of it. My years at BG and after graduation have changed my number one team (BG) but the Buckeye spirit is still very strong (especially living "uporth"). When I attended all three BG-OSU games, although finding it very strange, I was a FALCON! So, Falcons first and foremost, but OSU a close second. I travel 3 hours to most all BG home games, and go to one OSU game each year. I understand other views on this, but those that would criticize me fall on deaf ears. I will not change. I am "SW-MI Falcon" on this board and "bestbuckupnorth" on the o-zone board. I am very comfortable with "both of me". Both flags fly every weekend at my home. It's 11:45am on 10/19 and scUM still sucks. The rest of Michigan is great, love the west beaches and golf courses. Last night I represented BGSU at the K-Zoo College Fair passing out brochures. I am a BG admissions volunteer and an Alumni Chapter Leader. I love BG, and I love the Buckeyes.

I am suprised there has been no posts by BGBrandon on this topic yet. He likes OSU more than BG and still goes to BG. Heck, he even skips our football games to sit home and watch OSU games. Sorry Brandon, but that still just makes me sick to hear about
