Not that it affects BG this year, but if you fire your coach mid-season, you shouldn't go bowling. If you lose to a I-AA team (Hello, Indiana!), you shouldn't go bowling. The list goes on and on....
Because coaching changes in mid-season will cause you to lose at least 2 seasons in regards to bringing in an interim, finding a "real" coach, installing a new system, and not to mention recruiting. It's the Journey... wrote:I just read the article in the Blade online. Smith will remain through this season. Thats a bit of an insult. If the team is still in bowl contention, why not show him the door now and hope an interim coach can pull it together? It seems like everyone from the top down at MSU has flushed this season. In 2000 Blackney coached the season out, but he resigned and was not fired. Thats a big difference to me.
