Very Sad News

In the media notes, it was announced that Jean Panning would be retiring from the football office this year after over two decades years of service. It is a gigantic loss for BG football in too many ways to count.

Few everyday fans realize what a invaluable role she has played in the operation of the program. She is an encyclopedia of Falcon football knowledge, and I don't think I've known a nicer, friendlier or more helpful person. As a nervous BG student waiting outside the head coaches office to discuess a position working with the team, she helped quell my considerable anxiety with some reassuring words and a smile. Anyone who has ever called or visited the football office can surely speak to her kindness and willingness to help solve any problem or issue that would arise.

The Blade did a great recent story on the role she has played in the program:

If the team needed any extra incentive to beat Toledo today, winning one last game for Jean Panning should be it.

They knew she was going to retire at the beginning of the season. That's why she was included in the team picture.

Jean is definitely an awesome person, but the title of this thread makes me think someone died.

Me too, I held my breath a little as it was opening.

Everything you say here is true. May she have a great retirement.

Jean told me that she offered her services on a part-time basis to Mr. Christopher and the department and she was waiting for his answer. If he didn't say YES immediately, we need to check on cranial content :!:

Jean is the absolute best. SHE is Falcon Football and I really hope she comes back for all the home games. Jean will be missed greatly.

Enjoy retirement Jean! And THANKS for all you've done for Falcon Football! :supz:

Perhaps the title of thread was meant to convey some sense of fear about Jean having to collect her social security benefits.
