Starter at QB for 2007? Who do you think will be our opening day starter for 2007?

As long as we're putting Barnes on the list, we might as well add Dozier and Lichtensteiger too. They all have about the same shot of being the starter.

I hope Glaud turns out to be special and steals the job. I'm not too enamored with Turner anymore, and Sheehan's still very raw. They all probably have a long ways to go this offseason.

I'm not going to submit a vote because I think it all depends on who the head coach will be.

1. hILARIOUS RESPONSE...

2. If Freddie Barnes is such a ridiculous name to be on the list.....Why are people voting for him? I agree he should not be playin g QB for BG. If I left him off I guarantee you someone would have said where is Barnes?

I know Wisconsin wouldn't want Barnes to be on the list if they played us next year. He ran wild on them. They were praying for Michigan to come to town after having played Barnes at the QB spot.

He ran wild on Wisconsin because their defense was prepared for a QB to throw the ball all over the field, not one that would run it all over the field. I guarantee you that if we would have played Wisconsin again in week 2, Barnes would have gotten destroyed trying to run the ball. He got away with it once because it was unexpected. Crap, Kent State destroyed him after seeing him play a few games. You can't seriously think he could run on Wisconsin again.

I heard Corey was moving to QB, so he could throw to himself... :-D

And he's probably STILL be wide open. That would give him a chance to showcase that 4.2 speed

If Wisconsin was preparing for a "passing" quarterback then their scouts should be fired and never heard from again. They knew we had a converted RB or WR playing for their game that had never taken a snap before. They knew we were going to run and they couldn't do anything about it. Everyone knows it.

I think you need to check some facts there cowboyjoe. Barnes played QB in high school and was recruited as such. He never played RB, but was a dual threat QB. So, you are mistaken about a "converted RB or WR" playing QB.

And as far as Wisconsin scouts are concerned, it was the first game of the year. What film of Barnes playing QB were they supposed to watch? FWIW, I wouldn't doubt they did find some tape of him from high school. But given our system, I am sure they expected more passing and less running. And I think it is against NCAA regulations to scout another team's practice so they certainly wouldn't have sent some guys to BG to check him out during practice.
