Very reliable source, who is on the team himself, told me today he found out that Ellis has left the team and school. Brandon has Rojas, Wright, and Belany as kickers left on the team.

1 post and the name of "Buckeye." get ready to be doubted.

but with the overall theme of this season, i wouldn't doubt he would want to leave. who wants to kick in the middle of a swamp?

Coach made reference in a year end interview with The Blade that he was looking to bring a JC kicker in to provide competition and do kickoffs. He also specifically mentioned problems with depth on kickoffs (yes, I know there is a thread on this).

It didn't sound like he thought Ellis was leaving but he also didn't sound like everything was hunky-dorey.

Yep -- Brandon really deserves a chance to stick around -- there's plenty of kids he hasn't driven away yet.

That's too bad. He had good potential, and his dad seemed like a great guy. Heck, a number of his family members posted here, and they all seemed like good people.

Of course why would you stick around when your head coach blamed you for all of our STs woes? Yep...a TRUE FRESHMAN was the real problem with this team

How many days till we're out from under this guy's contract? This "program" is going down the crapper quicker than a late night Taco Bell run.

If true...disappointing but understandible given all that happened this year.

That's really depressing if its true, he had the potential to be a great kicker if only we could block for him!

Sometimes actions like this elicit a response of "the kid couldn't handle the heat" but I think this is more of a case of "it is a damn shame it came to this."

He had great upside potential as a kicker. He seemed to be a great kid, and his family, and specifically his father, were good people and excellent Falcons.

The fact that he was put in a position to leave the team disgusts me a little bit.

I wish him the best in the future and shudder to think about our kicking future.

Bingo -- and it should disgust all alumni. We have to start thinking Brandon may have lost this team. People quitting, 5 losses down the stretch, a team looking disinterested in the biggest game of the year against a hated rival, etc. Once a coach loses a team, for whatever reason, it's impossible to get them back.

Yep, that is what sticks out to me too. We had problems in every phase of the game when it came to covering kickoffs. But to single out your freshman kicker for not kicking the ball through the endzone as the biggest reason was ridiculous. And what makes it worse is that Brandon used youth as an excuse for almost every other breakdown we had. But for some reason he decided to heap all the blame for kickoffs squarely on his freshman kicker. Methinks that there is something deeper here and Brandon just didn't get along with Sean. Truly sad to see.

If this rumor is true, I wish Sean all the best wherever he ends up.

It wasn't just the end of season comments, there were multiple comments made throughout the season that were unjust in my mind. The comments piled up and many of us just shook our head. It was my understanding that we would give the kickers time to get comfortable and that they were the first step in rehauling our STs.

In my mind the staff is breaking a few cardinal rules here- 1. singling out a player 2. singling out a true freshman 3. singling out a kicker who are known to be fragile or 'different.' Those individually are things you just don't do, let alone all of them at the same time on multiple occassions throughout the season.

Our Coach complaining about our kicking game this season would be like the captain of the Titanic complaining that his dinner was undercooked while the ship is going down.

I heard Sean left too.. also heard that Kevin Mahoney quit.

Well, I wish Mahoney good luck as well, then.

I hope Big Bird's dad ventures back here to share what's going on with his son, but it is certainly up to him if he would rather keep it private. I wish him good luck...the kid had potential as a kicker.

I can certainly understand why some players would want to get out of this sinking ship...we see it a lot in hoops as well :(

Oh well...only 2 more years!
