Hall of Fame

Post by 1987alum »

Posted this in another thread, but it was largely ignored *cough*

It appears that there's no online presence for the BG Athletic Hall of Fame. When the recent inductees were announced, I thought, gee, I wonder who is in there from my era. Well, it appears that, unless you have media guide in hand, you're out of luck, because I can't find that information anywhere.

Now I realize that this wouldn't change the course of BG Athletics, but wouldn't it be nice to have an online tribute for these folks? Sounds like a good project for an intern!

Whaddya think?

Agreed, and it really wouldn't be that difficult to set up, for a savvy web designer.

Sounds like a good job for Falconz ;)

Seriously they should have SOMETHING.

i'm no intern, but if you want to go with just "your era" for starters:

Larry Arndt (baseball)
Martin Bayless (FB)
Julie Bender-Cleary (gym)
Stephanie Coe (WBB)
Dave Ellett (hockey)
Gary Galley (hockey)
David Greer (MBB)
Brian Hills (hockey)
Stan Hunter (FB)
Phil Koester (swimming and diving)
Gary Kruzich (hockey)
Amy Lienhardt (softball)
Brian MacLellan (hockey)
Beth Manson (track)
Brian McClure (FB)
Roger McDowell (baseball) - is that *THE* "Roger McDowell"? I dont know that I knew that!
George McPhee (hockey)
Vicki Miwa (softball)
Laura Murphy (track/CC)
Jackie Motycka (WBB)
Mary Pfeiffer (swimming and diving)
Neil Ridgway (soccer)
John Spengler (FB/golf)
Andrea Szekely (swimming)
Chris Tuttle (basketball)
1983-84 Hockey team

That's everyone that had a graduation date from 1982-1989, not including coaches and administrators (thought its safe to say, if they have a building, arena, stadium, road or training facility named after them, they're in the hall of fame  )

If you mean the Roger McDowell, relief pitcher, that threw for several major league teams, than yes it is him. I remember mostly as a Met, but he also played for the Phillies, Dodgers, Rangers, and O's. I think he is better remembered for his practical jokes than his pitching.

fine by me!! *laugh* that's cool. I think I remember hearing that he went to BG, but I don't know why it never registered. The 80's were a real "heyday" for BG pitching, I'm guessing? with him and "no diploma" hershiser *laugh*
