did anyone else notice the stupid OU student in the green cowboy hat and the sunglasses on? Near the end of the 4th he came down to where the cheerleaders were and was asking what happen to freddie and trying to start crap with some of the fans down there like Snake Man. I feel that kid was a very poor excuse for a OU fan *laughs* and personally would to have loved to seen kim get his butt kicked :) :) :)

Yeah, every school has their share of idiots. A road trip wouldn't be a road trip without coming across a few of them.

Don't let him ruin it for you. Because I like true football fans, I always decided to wait til the 4th quarter or the rain starts before I chat with any fans from opposing schools. The ones still there really love their team and aren't fair-weathered IMO so they are more enjoyable to talk to. After the rain started and their student section cleared out by 3/4, I went over to talk to the OU kids and must say they were really nice people. We talked about their lack of defense, why they couldn't decided what QB to use, and how BG is playing this year. My last words were then along the lines of come up to BG and tailgate in 2 years. But be ready because it'll be Omar's senior year and will be another blowout unless Ohio gets some good players :D

But yeah, they do have good people, sorry you had to experience the one trying to start things. However, I do believe him starting things with Freddie was brought on by Freddie and myself. That Freddie is one entertaining one and whatever we wrote on his board to go show their student section, he would take down there and show it. Some of the things were very disrespectful...I will not lie  We did not really think he would go show them everything we wrote but he did. Oh well, it was all in good fun!!!

.....and Freddy's best line of the day on his board......."Toledo still sucks!!!"

That's my boy! :D

Although generally it's good to be cordial and respectful of the other team's fans, whether we're their guests or hosts. The idea is not to make them want to beat you up.

I was exiting a stall in the Peden stadium men's room (they have those damn troughs instead of urinals. I don't piss in troughs, they're a little too lumpen proletariat for my tastes. So I went into an actual toilet stall)
As I'm exiting these two kids wearing hoodies pulled up over their heads duck into the stall. You can hide the hair, but you can't hide everything, particularly the hips. All I could say was, "good luck with that, ladies" because that was one nasty stall (I found it that way, honest).

I have to saysay that those two ladies disguised their gender much more effectively than OU disguised their defensive sets

Metz thats one helluva good idea. I never though of that. Kdog tells me OU got served that game, unfortunatly I couldnt pick up the radio signal in toledo, so all I got to look at was the stats. Did I read that they vblocked a punt and took it back for a score? What is up with that?

I'll always recall a road hockey game against Ohio State, at the old fairgrounds ice arena.

I think it was Mike Johnson, got into a fight with an OSU player. Normally the officials send the players off the ice one at a time, waiting for one to get to the locker room before sending the second. This time they didn't. The OSU player left the ice, a second or two later, Johnson did.

The tunnel to the lockers was under, and in the middle of about 700 BGSU fans that were there.

Predictably, as soon as Johnson was off the ice, the two of them went at it right there. While a couple of deputies went to try to break it up, a bunch of OSU fans thought they'd run down from the other side of the stadium. As they got about half way there, at the exact same moment, all 700 BG fans, who had been watching them come, stood up, looking at them. They came to a quick halt and retreated back to the other side.

In the meantime, somebody, who I think was actually an OSU fan, somehow managed to get into a fight with an OSU assistant coach, who didn't realize it. It was a mess for a few minutes.

Darn memorable though. The visual of all the BG fans scaring off the OSU kids was classic.

Meanwhile, Snakeman probably deserves getting his butt kicked. SOB was *cheering* for OU in our section cuz he said we weren't making enough noise. I thought Coach Beck's wife was gonna go after him! LOL!

Unlike CMU where I heard "BG SUX!!" hundreds of times, I heard that one time at OU as we were leaving. Stupid kid yells "BG SUX" to which I simply replied "scoreboard".

One word response that speaks volumes if you win! Scoreboard.....it's the best comeback in sports if you are the victor! I wonder this.....if BG beats Ohio 41-16, and an Ohio fans says BGSUCKS, does that mean Ohio U spits or swallows?

I know, I know, that's kind of a classless question to ask, but seriously, if you just got you @ss handed to you on your home field and you're saying a school sucks, what does it say for your own? When we left Oklahoma, the last thing any BG fan should be saying is OUSUCKS. That's why "Freak has the best comeback there is....Scoreboard!

After OU got their first points, I wrote Scoreboard on Freddie's board and he walked back and forth past the OU student section. They didn't really say to much about it!

That was AWESOME! I was doing that game for radio, and the booth was above center ice on the opposite side of the tunnel. I think I remember it being Kevin Lune involved in one of the initial fights, though... supposedly for nailing one of the OSU player's girlfriends. This is still ON the ice, where they break one fight up and another one starts, and while they break that one up, the first start kicks back up again. I think I almost wet myself doing play by play for it. The best was seeing the OSU player walked through the tunnel, thinking it was all settled and seeing him charge back down the tunnel when they walked the Falcon off. Those cops were horribly overmatched. I don't remember it being 700 BG fans, but I remember it being a large contingent, and they had no problem trying to get down into the tunnel to take care of business!

Between this and a bench-clearing brawl in a baseball game vs. Kent State, I had a few damn solid broadcast memories OFF the field as well as on! *grin*

Though this is off topic for the thread, we were at that hockey game too! It was a riot to watch. We were sitting directly across from the tunnel and saw it transpire. And I do believe it was Kevin Lune, and not Mike Johnson. Mike wasn't much of a fighter, but Kevin sure wouldn't back down from a scrum!!!

Now THAT would have been a sight to see. Thanks for the story.
