BG get 12 votes, NIU last team out of Coaches' Top-25

In the Coaches Poll, BG gets 12 votes, NIU is the first team left out of the Top-25, and Marshall gets two votes.

In the AP Poll, BG gets no votes but NIU gets 14 and Toledo gets 3.

I'd put them at #12 following the beating they gave Central Michigan. That is a really talented team they beat on Saturday night and to do it by 5 whole points is really impressive.

Ok, I hate to use scores against similar opponents to determine the quality of two teams, but we have some pretty astounding evidence here. BG and Toledo have three common opponents so far, Temple, Ohio, and Central. Toledo has played all three games at home; BG has played all three on the road. The margin of victory in each case greatly favors BG. Temple -we win by 54, UT by 28. Ohio - we win by 25, UT by 18. Central - we win by 24, UT by 5.
Ok, now let's look at the two losses each team has. BG lost to the #2 team in the country by a respectable 16 points and the outcome was still in doubt with a few minutes to play. Our other loss was also on the road against a team that is now on the verge of cracking the top 25. Toledo's two losses were both huge blowouts and were over in the first half! and one was to Kansas which is now 3-4.
And now the ultimate common opponent comparison. Kansas lost to Oklahoma by 31. Kansas beat Toledo by 49. That makes Oklahoma 80 points better than Toledo
Thusly, we should be 64 points better than Toledo. That sounds about right.
And Sagarin’s computer rankings have BG at 45, Toledo is 76. If they played today, BG would actually be favored by 3.5 points using his standard home field advantage.
So my point is that anybody that is ranking Toledo ahead of Bowling Green right now is an obvious idiot.
