Urbie gets a little snotty now too

From Matt Markey's column in the Blade
Florida coach Urban Meyer was asked if any of the current Ohio State players were guys he tried to recruit as head coach at Bowling Green.
“Yes,” Meyer said. “We recruited a guy named Troy Smith and a guy named Teddy Ginn, but they were both a little better than Bowling Green.”
Yeah...right back at ya, Urbie...

F him. Where would he be right now if BG wouldn't have given him a shot? Possibly not even a head coach yet.

I hope Florida wins tomorrow but it's quotes like this that makes me wish that there wasn't a winner tomorrow.
Sometimes Urban goes out of his way to bash BG. He had a bad attitude about this place when Krebs offered him a job. I remember Holtz saying something about Urban being less than thrilled about potentially coaching a MAC school and Holtz responded by saying given your background why would a MAC school even be willing to take a chance on you? For Urban we were a means to an end.

Yeah that's what I am saying. Not too many coaches go from a position coach to head coach overnight. I hope Ohio State smokes them.

Integrity and loyalty were never two of Urban's stronger qualities, going all the way back to his childhood.
Once a douche, always a douche. Notice how he's not whining about the lack of a playoff system anymore. I agree with the F him sentiment.

I'm not sure I've ever cheered for OSU to win anything - ever - but if there was a time, this would be it.
Shove it, Meyer. You owe this school everything.
I agree with Bleeding Orange

If ever there was a game that called out for a BLIMP CRASH, this is it. No winners.
Today, we were talking. We don't want OSU to win because their fans are too obnoxious already.
I would like for Chris Leak to have a great game and show up Troy $mith but that would mean MRs. Meyer and her husband would benefit.
So I am going with Blimp Crash!

I know his comments seem a bit egotistical, but he does have a point, Bowling Green would never get a recruit with the likes of that kind of talent. There are just too many top notch programs that scout the best players for a mid-major to have a legit shot at them.
I'm still pulling for Urban and the Gators, he might be a jerk off but he at least put this program in the national spotlight for a few years, and that's something not many people who've coached at BG can say.

Troy Smith was a 3-star recruit I believe. He wasn't out of BG's league any more than Anthony Turner or D.J. Young were.
And even if he was, you don't need to say s**t like that in order to intentionally demean a school that gave you your first shot.

Can you say OMAR? Can you say HARRIS? I'll take a possession receiver like Greg Meehan Any day. I heartily disagree with your premise. However, I do allow your ability to think it. (new year's resolution)
How about the young men who are smart enough to want to be able to play rather than sit on OSU's pine?

I'm not so sure they were that great in the first place, but to openly say something so condescending is enough to make my blood boil. I hope they get slaughtered.

I think we shoot for the stars every year, and the guys who get the other offers pick and choose. Lets say you were Troy Smith and you have offers from BGSU and OSU. There is no play off system so your odds of misinformed misguided media exposure at BGSU look bad..and great at OSU. Add in that OSU is OSU and will continue to be OSU and gets those OSU novelty perks do to the "BOWL SYSTEM" what are you going to do..and yea add in your odds of getting paid millions, you of dollars to play pro football are much higher for being an OSU player.
You dont pick BGSU you pick OSU...and BGSU gets the leftovers, and the poorly identified.

Troy Smith was a 4-star by Scout.com and the #14 QB in the class. I know he participated in the elite 11 QB camp, so somebody must've thought he was in the top 11 QBs that season.
Anthony Turner was a 3-star and was the #51 QB in his class.
They were not even close to the same level as prospects. Still, Urban's attitude was unnecessary. I love his coaching, but he does have a big ego...then again most great coaches do.

MACMAN- I choose to disagree with you. This being polite is really getting to me.
HOWEVER, I do want to tell you, unless someone or someone's E-MAIL the AD and MARKETING people we are going to be stuck with Space Ghost for the rest of our natural lives.
They paid some bozo's too much money to develop it during Paul's time and I guess they feel they need to justify it.

Let's see what he has to say after the game tonight. Do you think he has any walls in his office big enough for a 14 foot booby prize?
