"A loss at Northern Illinois earlier this season puts Bowling Green a game down, and the Falcons need someone to bump off the Huskies.
The irony is, they need help from their arch enemy, since it looks like Toledo has the best shot at upending Northern. The Falcons will all become Rockets' fans on Tuesday night, Nov. 9.
Most MAC observers expected it would come down to this trio — Bowling Green, Toledo and Northern Illinois. And it has. The Falcons have to run the MAC table from here on out, get some help from the Rockets, and then pull off a win over Toledo on the road to end the season."
Don't we need 2 teams to bump off the Huskies if we hope to defend?

The way that quote reads, I interpret it as one loss by NIU against UT and us beating UT puts us in the MACC. As long as everyone wins the rest of the games their supposed too.
"The defense once again faced off against a top offensive attack, but there didn't seem to be a whole lot of fight, especially defending the passing game. Ohio must get much better on defense or the rest of the season could get embarrassing."
That top rated defense of Ohio's just didn't play anyone yet. BG and UT have a way of making defenses look real bad.

Again with the STUPID comments . . .
After a year of wondering where the PATs were going to land, the Shaun Suisham we all knew of from two years ago has returned and then we get a comment like that from our wonderful coach. Sorry, but our record this year alone, not to mention in big games, doesn't not allow for such reinforcement.

Yeah because 5-2 is so bad....OptionQB wrote:After a year of wondering where the PATs were going to land, the Shaun Suisham we all knew of from two years ago has returned and then we get a comment like that from our wonderful coach. I have to agree with Option on this one. That was a really dumb comment from Coach Brandon and no, 5-2 is not bad, but those 5 wins were over some of college football's worst teams. We must find a way to win more big road MAC games. Going back to '01 when we lost at Marshall and at Western in close games, we have struggled in road games that we needed to win a MAC division title. I could care less if we beat the Oklahomas, Purdues, or Wisconsins of the world on the road, but we need to start beating UT, NIU, and Miami. We can start on 11/23.kdog27 wrote:Yeah because 5-2 is so bad....OptionQB wrote:After a year of wondering where the PATs were going to land, the Shaun Suisham we all knew of from two years ago has returned and then we get a comment like that from our wonderful coach. I don't think Brandon meant it in a bad way. When you are kicking a ball 52 yards, it has to be almost perfectly straight or it's not going to go through. I am going to look at the bright side and assume coach was thinking the wind was coming from the side and going to push the ball a little
Either way, we have the MAC's best kicker IMO!!! Suisham has turned his game around and it is only helping our team.

I don't see anything wrong with this. A lot of NFL kickers have the leg to hit from 60 -- but it's tough to keep it between the goal posts from there.QUOTE TO NOTE: "Shaun Suisham had a little breeze behind him. I knew he could kick it, I just didn't know if he could kick it between the goalposts." — Bowling Green head coach Gregg Brandon on Suisham's 52-yard field goal against Ohio
I think Option's just saying that when you have a player who was great one year, had a down year the next, and then is in the midst of another great year you might want to show some confidence in him. When you go to the media you should not be trying to make the funny sound bite, you should say you were confident he could get it that far, and were glad to see he came through. I don't think that this will affect Shaun in anyway throughout the season, by why tempt it?
As for the record, whoopty do. Let me know when we beat somebody outside of the bottom 20 teams in Division 1. Brandon's record in big games, as Option eluded to, isn't that hot, especially when those games are on the road. Of course this is another discussion for another thread.
