Also receiving votes:
Northern Illinois (6-2) 30; South Carolina (5-2) 27; North Carolina State (4-3) 19; Boston College (5-2) 18; Georgia Tech (4-2) 17; Florida (4-3) 14; Texas Tech (4-3) 13; Bowling Green (5-2) 12; Missouri (4-3) 11; Notre Dame (5-3) 11; UAB (5-2) 9; Alabama (5-3) 8; Navy (6-1) 5; Ohio State (4-3) 3; Texas-El Paso (5-2) 3; Marshall (4-3) 2; Pittsburgh (5-2) 1; UCLA (4-3) 1.
Southern Miss has 52 votes, which puts NIU just out of the top 25. They could get ranked before the season is out, assuming they don't lose.
Oh, and note that for all the pointless hype about UT's QB, no votes for them.

well, both polls are full of crap really, i prefer to make my own poll, since I watch more games that anyone that votes in either poll. And computers cant watch TV, so I am right. Well, at least more right than the BCS rankings.

Yesterday, the AP poll had UT listed above BG. I don't know what the polls will show next week, or three weeks from now, but as of this weekend, comparing apples to apples, BG is clearly the superior team. Is this politics, or did some dummy not do his homework? I'm beginning to believe that the AP is nothing more than a popularity contest.

The AP poll has people with John Harris type minds voting. So clearly we can discredit it right away.Dr. Bucko wrote:Yesterday, the AP poll had UT listed above BG. The media types are fixated on UT's QB. Why they are I'm just not able to understand. Indeed, if you actually watch their games, I can't understand why anybody expects them to have a chance against Miami or NIU. Their first play on offense against OU: a safety. Their vaunted offense can't move anyplace against CMU, a game they were truly lucky to win at all. They were utterly dominated and shut-down in their first two games. They are consistently giving up more points against common opponets than BG or others. The teams they've beaten all are sub-.500 programs. But gosh darn, their QB completes such a high percentage of his passes!

I don't get what the voters are looking at. I had to look up the stats. This really surprised me...home game...homecoming...
Team Stats........CMI........TOL
First Downs.........24......... 23
Rushes-Yds.....42-168....32-123
Passing Yds........385........375
Sacked-Yds Lost..2-12.......0-0
Return Yds............0..........82
Passes...........29-42-0....29-42-1
Punts..............6-39.7.....5-33.8
Fumbles-Lost......1-1.........1-0
Penalties-Yds...12-103......7-50
Time Of Poss.....30:22.....29:38
However, if they can beat NIU (on an off game) they could get really motivated for their season finale.
