TV is great, but I hate noon games...yuk yuk yuk.
Remember we put lights in for a reason. To avoid playing these early afternoon contests when put up against the best games of the day on television. So now we're willing to whore ourselves out to TV to allow us BACK into those matchups with OSU/UM on TV?
With all the factors that have been discussed regarding homecoming versus opening weekend, is it possible that the start time difference had a major impact along with the weather? I think its safe to say both opponents were equally crappy as far as a matchup goes. As I recall both OSU & UM played at 3:30 the day of our 4:00 game as well. It is quite likely this is not just coincidence.
I'm sorry, but when I went from a BG football fan to a fanatic was when we changed to mostly night games. I used to go to every game, but that was it. When we put in lights and we could make an entire day event of it we started tailgating all day long, and enjoying the entire experience more. We could still watch other football games on the TV in our cars & then head into the game. BG football became an all day experience, and I think this is something that we have all agreed we need to continue to become. I just think that moving these kickoffs up counteracts the sort of atmosphere we're starting to create.
I hate moving these kickoffs up just to appease a regional TV broadcast

I suppose I won't complain, TV is TV. I like night games more, and I enjoy slowly unwinding days that culminate with the game.
On the other hand, I always liked being able to stroll across campus in daylight, and enjoy a victory pizza at Polleyes while watching the end of the afternoon games. Then having the rest of the day to enjoy the late games.

Very true and until a year ago I was in your boat as well, living out of state and 10 hours away. BUT, you have to weigh up the inconveniences and exposure gained from a Regional Game on FSN available on ESPN+ and the same from a game on either ESPN or ESPN2. Also look at the hype around moving a game time for the same reasons.ab1994 wrote:It might just be a regional game, but a lot of people (myself included) still get those games by satellite.Dayons_Den wrote:I agree Hammb, all of your points make sense but I like the last one the best, it is JUST a regional game, not a national broadcast.
NOt many people will say, Wow I have to get tickets for this upcomign game that will be shown all over Ohio and New York on FSN and also my great uncle Steve who was BGSU Class of 89 but now lives in Arizona who will pay 9.95 to get it on ESPN+
But many people did cram into the Doyt last year when the NIU game was on ESPN2 and gameday was here and also there seemed to be a renewed excitement and hype for the TU game which was carried on ESPN2 also.

I was just about to post something about this until I saw your post! If you want to tailgate all day, start the day before and keep going through the night! I'd be up for it since I'm going to probably have to be out on the band fields at 7 am!factman wrote:Maybe we should have a "all night" campout/tailgate to get ready for Marshall!!!!!

Question:
I have Direct TV. Can I pay for just the BG games that are on FOX Sports Net or do I have to purchase the entire College Football package?
Looks like the Eastern, Western and Marshall games will now be available via the dish.
Any help is appreciated...
