My grandpa sent me an e-mail yesterday of a new commit to Bowling Green. He lives in Ocala, FL and Vangaurd is near by. Don't know my facts but I'm pretty sure some GREAT players have come from that school.. maybe even Duante Culpepper? Anyway here's what he sent me..

Vanguard strong safety Glen Stanley verbally committed to Bowling Green
State University Thursday, choosing the Mid-American Conference program over
Bethune-Cookman, FAMU, South Florida and FIU. He is the 8th local product to
verbally commit to play college football, and the SECOND headed to BGSU, joining
Dunnellon offensive lineman Josh Dodge. With a name like Josh, he's got to
be good. At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, he is projected to play outside
linebacker. Stanley says they wanted a guy who could run sideline to sideline and
MAKE plays.He played his sophomore and junior seasons at Trinity Catholic where
he won a state championship in 2005. He transferred to Vanguard and as a
senior posted 77 tackles, including 13 tackles for loss. He also intercepted a
pass, blocked a punt and recovered three fumbles.

We are hitting Florida HARD this year. Kind of suprised we haven't seen more OL recruits....perhaps there's a few we don't know about. Apparently, this Parmenter kid form NJ is down to us or Cincy...he's 6'-7" and something like 280....

Great point flipper about the Olinemen. We seem to be adding athletes, which is good, but we did alot of that last year.

If you notice we also have not had alot of commits from Ohio so far. OL ususally take longer to see the field anyway so perhaps we are looking at that position and thinking we can pluck some guys late from in state and develop them down the road. We certainly need to start recruiting the position.

You're right about the Fla. "surge"....wonder who's recruiting that area for us now, as we've lost two asst. coaches from last year, and only one has been replaced to my knowledge.....could this be more of the "Urban" influence?

This kid would make an excellent saftey but alas we will most likely put him at LB like every other S we get out of HS.

In case you hadn't noticed, the trend in college football is towards smaller, quicker LB's. We aren't the only ones running 210lb LB's out there.

Well, we're the only ones trying to have success on D with 210 LB's and a small D-line for the past 5 or 6 years. I have heard that Texas had few smaller LB's but they got DT's in the 6'3-6'5 and 330lbs range. Their DT's do all the work and the speedy Lb's can actually do something we unfortunately have both small d-line and small Lb's. We could live with 215lb'ers at Lb if we got a big enough and dominating D-line.
