Toledo may be our only hope........
Toledo may be our only hope........
......to beat NIU. NIU has Ball State, Toledo and EMU remaining on its shedule. I don't know about you, but I have little, if no hope, that BSU or EMU will beat NIU. I just don't see it happening. I have a little more hope in UT getting the job done, but I still think NIU is going to beat UT. We'll see......
GO BG!!!
I don't see UT beating them at NIU. And I have so little thought that EMU or BSU could beat them, than I'd rather UT suffer a loss than give them anything.

I can honestly see NIU losing two games. First there is Toledo, yes this game is at NIU but Toledo has had their number lately, maybe always. I see this continuing. As far as dropping a second game to either BSU or EMU? It could definitely happen. They may have beat us quite good but they have had their share of poor games. Iowa St. is not a good team. They allowed a 1-aa team to come within a two point conversion of winning, I don't care how good of a one double a team they are either. UCF lost to them 30-28. So to think this is a team that has games wrapped up before they begin is crazy.
Toledo:
Like I said I can see UT beating NIU but I am not so sure that they can get it done in Oxford. So in the event that UT loses to Miami we need to hope like hell that they can beat NIU and either BSU or EMU can knock off NIU too.
Call me an optimist but I say NIU drops a game to one of those two teams.
If NIU doesn't lose to EMU or BSU, we actually need UT to beat both Miami and NIU and then lose to BG or we won't even have a three-way tie in the first place. If BG wins out (which means beating UT) and if UT loses to Miami, UT could still beat NIU and we'd then have BG and NIU tied with UT a game-behind. BG would then lose because of the head-to-head loss to NIU. We've got to pull for UT to win all their games except against BG to get a three-way tie.
Again, this is why it's just so important to just win and control your own destiny. Having to rely on help from others just leads to hours of brainstorming and weeks of waiting to see if you get lucky. Winning puts it all into perspective.

I am confused.... which should not be a surprise. Toledo losing to Miami and Beating NIU, then BG beating Toledo and winning out would be a good thing. This scenerio would still give us a three way tie in the West. Each team would have a loss in the West, but would give Toledo an additional loss Conference wide. Which should give us the nod....right? Or would they look at the head-to-head loss to NIU or season wide record?BGSU33 wrote:.......if UT loses to Miami, UT could still beat NIU and we'd then have BG and NIU tied with UT a game-behind. Cause, I gotta tell you..... I'm going to the Miami-Toledo game and there is no way in H. E. doublehockeysticks I'm rooting for Toledo.
Man, I need an aspirin.
You guys are all making my head spin
I thought we had this all figured out a long time ago and it's not that complicated.
If NIU wins out or only loses one game, they go to the MACC. That is unless that one loss is to toledo and toledo wins out. In that case, toledo go to the MACC. We only make it if we win out and NIU loses twice, which isn't going to happen. It's highly unlikely anyway.
It only gets really sticky if there ends up being a three way tie. For that to happen, UT has to beat NIU, we have to beat UT, and all three teams have to have no other losses. In that three way tie, I believe it would come down to NIU and UT since we most recently went to the MACC. I could be wrong on that, but I thought that was one of the tie breakers.
I still think our best hope at getting into a bowl game is if NIU wins out, so do we, and Marshall wins the east but loses to NIU in the championship game. Overall, that would make us look alot more attractive to some of the bowls than the east winner, Marshall.
I thought it was that simple, but if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me

I haven't replied to these threads because I agree with you here TG. None of us can really predict what is going to happen so I'm just sitting tight. When we do get to the end of the season, I might actually start to pay attention to what is going on. Until then, wait it out...any given team can lose on any day to anyone.TG1996 wrote:My head has spun so much about this that I don't care any more. Win everything on our plate and let someone tell us where to go in December (hopefully its not "back home"!)

All MAC games count, not just games in the West. Under the scenario you paint, UT would have 2 losses, and NIU would win the tiebreaker.Tech83 wrote:BGSU33 wrote:I am confused.... which should not be a surprise.
