Kent State's Dix Stadium?

Post by BGSU33 »

Is Kent State's Dix Stadium still missing the entire sideline seats along one side of the field? Anyone know what happened to them in the first place? If I remember correctly, they were wooded and beat up. I supposed they removed them because they were old and no one ever sat in them! I just find it curious that they have two decent sections of endzone seats, and were missing an entire seats along one of the sidelines. I wasn't sure if they were ever replaced or not?

Remember a few years ago the Sporting News listed Dix Stadium better than Perry Stadium?! NO WAY! I know we've made improvements recently, but even back then, Dix Stadium was not better than Perry Stadium.

wow. that must have been recent... I was there for HS playoff games in 2001, and the old wood was still there. I can't imagine them not putting SOMETHING back up there, for NCAA-standards sake, but if they weren't getting people in them anyway, maybe they don't need 'em.. *laugh* looks awfully funny though!

When I was there in 2002, they had torn the wooden bleachers down. IIRC, they were going to construct new ones for student seating.

They should do something about the pressbox. It looks like someone dumped a mobile home on top of the grandstand...

When I was there in 2002 there was a sign behind the visitor bench that said future sight of the Flashzone. Or something to that effect. I hope they have done something or will do something soon because that is so sad to not have seats going down the length of the field, whether you can fill them or not. ...On a sidenote I think BG had more fans at that game

Dix = dump.

Kent is just one of many MAC schools that needs a major facilities upgrade.

Aluminum and artificial turf do not a pretty stadium make.

There's no way there's 30K+ seats without the visitor's side grandstand.
