Hammb is not going to like the comments on passing and running in the offense.

"For every 100 yards, we better be getting seven points. We've gotten that goal six out of seven times this year. So, if we have 500 yards of offense, we better score 35 points. If we have 500 yards of offense and three touchdowns, that's not good enough. You can have tons of yards, but that's not what's on the scoreboard at the end."
That's a good strategy there! I really don't care how much we run or pass...I care if we win and we are definitely doing that!

"To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the project manager, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be."
How does the coaching staff let its team go into a game with that magnitude and be COMPLACENT!? You can NOT need a REMINDER to show up every game in college football. These comments still irritate me. It's one thing to show up and get beat, its another thing entirely when your coaching staff cannot get the team ready to play against the #1 contender for your crown with 2 weeks to prepare. GRRRR...Gregg Brandon wrote:That's why we won 11 games last year, and unfortunately, the Northern Illinois game was a reminder that we can't just show up and beat people...The thing that happened to us early, I think, was that we got a little complacent, and thought that we could go into DeKalb and beat NIU and we didn't have enough in the fourth quarter to get that done
Great, so we'll wait until we lose a game because of it and then we'll worry. You cannot do that in college football. You must look at your weaknesses and fix them, even in the good times, BEFORE a team finds a way to exploit them! It's only a concern if we're not winning
Hubris, plain & simple. And when they find someone that they cannot get open against? Or when we come upon someone against whom we cannot give Omar that time? Seems to me I'd be a lot more comfortable if I had seen this year's offense actually use some of those runs that are still in the package with effectiveness, just in case.We want to throw the football. Our receivers have matured now to the point where they can get open against just about anybody. Our protection is such that when we give Omar time we can do some things. Those runs are still in the package, but we're just not calling them
Overall that writeup did little to increase my confidence in this coaching staff. The best coaches find negatives in wins, and it appears as though this staff (at least publicly) is quite willing to brush it all off with a shrug of the shoulders and say, "well we're winning". 7-24...the combined W/L record of the 1A opponents that we've beaten. Against competition like that you damn well better be winning!
