I think Nick kind of mailed in the analysis of our class....although I have a hard time thinking the rest of the league did well enough to render a class with two *** rb's, a *** QB and a guy tough enough to be all state in FLorida as a 170lb linebacker "average".
If that's true...the league took a huge steop forward this year.

If you look at his comment on the MACbbs about our basketball game last night, you will understand how much credability he has. NONE! He comes up with these accusations about DD without having any idea what the facts are, nor did he bother to check. I think the same applies to his recruiting analysis..

If his ratings ever meant anything, then the MAC would consistently have six teams in the top 25 each year. I think this is the first year that the lowest rating was less than "Good".
His passionate rant/meltdown on the MACBBS about Dakich was disturbing on a certain level given he's not even a BGSU fan. Issues?

I did not see where Dakich was mentioned. Did I miss something?

Vandelay has a windy rant on the MAC BBS site about Dakich needing to be fired. I don't know WHY I read it all the way to the bottom, but referring to "Maureen Something" from the Blade bottomed out the credibility meter for me.It's the Journey... wrote:I did not see where Dakich was mentioned. That's the first time I've been on that site in about 2 years. Just don't go over there anymore.
Interesting rant by Vandelay. All I know is I wasn't there last night so I can only go by the accounts of those that were. Sounds to me like we got hosed.

I figured I would take some hits from this forum so I will do what I can to address them here. First off, I loved your two RBs and QB that you signed and so noted that. When the entire recruiting analysis is up and running you will see in my position rankings that Nate Brown is the #4 incoming MAC QB and Mark Wooldridge is the #5 incoming MAC RB. Eric Ransom is the #6 incoming overall JUCO.
I was not as impressed with your WRs or OL prospects compared to other MAC schools and as you can see, I do go position by position for my in-depth analysis. All of the defensive players have some solid potential but none stuck out to me where as schools like Temple, Miami & Ball St did. You never know how these things will work out and every year I so note that, but on paper, I thought other schools did better this year.
When I spoke to two of my most solid insiders who write for Scout and Rivals respectively and are OSU grads, both stated the same story to me. BG again and again lost Ohio recruits to Miami and Ball State and western PA recruits to Akron and Kent St. Each stated the same thing, and each stated that BG needed to fill their class and did so late. That's not always a bad thing, but when I hear a school losing recruits left and right to other MAC schools, I tend to rank their class a little lower, right or wrong on that logic. If you look at my rankings over the past few years, most of the time BG was rated in the upper half if not upper quarter of my rankings. In the few years that Urban Meyer was there, the exact opposite happened. He took players away from other MAC schools, and schools like Cincy, Indiana and some other lower BCS schools. Urban is a great guy and I miss him in this league very much.
As for my rant about DD on the MACBDS, I am not a Dakich fan and haven't been for some time. While I like that he stresses defense and basic fundamentals, I don't like how he runs players out of his program and as a NCAA football official, I don't like how blames officials for many of his losses. Getting back to Urban Meyer, I remember well when BG was at Toledo and leading at the half and he opened up the second half with an onside kick and the Falcons did not get the fumble. UT went on to score on that drive and momentum was sharply shifted to blue. In the post game conference, Urban was as sincere as anyone I ever saw after a tough loss and said "I lost this game with that call." DD doesn't do that, he blames others, and then he runs to Matt Markey, Norm Wamer or Elton Alexander and cries foul. I don't like that at all and never have.
As for Jacobs4Heisman stating that I am dishonest, that's just plain wrong. If I make a mistake on my site, and yes I certainly have, I change it right away once it is brought to my attention. I do not make money on my Nicks Picks so there is no reason to false advertise - it's a fan site for crying out loud. I work with many BG grads in downtown Cleveland and all of them turn to me for MAC insider knowledge. If you have a problem with me or my site - that's fine. If you happen to visit The Q next month for MAC Madness, look me up, I'm in the middle of press row and we can chat about the MAC.
Everyone knows I am a Toledo grad and those who know me personally know that I have family that lives in BG and that my first ever college football game that I attended was BG/UT-Chattanooga back in 1975. Believe it or not I do root for you guys in OOC football and basketball games as I root for all MAC schools. Another problem I had with DD is that he would schedule a crappy and easy non-conference schedule just to pad his personal record. Jim Larranaga didn't do that - and he would go on the road to play anyone and that's why he was successful then and now.
Many of you can and will continue to rip me a new one if you like - but I thought I would respond. Again, anyone going to The Q next month, stop down and introduce yourself. I always wear an ivory sweater/vest with a tie and love talking MAC sports.

I didn't state that you were dishonest. I said you are either dishonest or can't add. I guess we'll add reading comprehension to the list of things you're not fantastic at.
You being an official, and stating your dislike for Dan because of his comments regarding offiials, makes a little clearer what happened in Buffalo.
