[quote="1987alum"]Admittedly, I'm no expert, but I took a whack at it nonetheless. In this chart, E1 = MAC East Team 1, W2 = MAC West Team 2, etc.
Please tell me where the holes are ... I'll post this on the MAC board, too.

Karl,
Fun to "brainstorm" on this little problem, right? How about THIS idea?
Since Temple is the "bastard child" of the MAC, let IT be a 'FLOATER' TEAM. in other words, neither East Nor West...but the rest of the league plays a "normal" schedule with Temple getting games with whoever needs an OOC game... I know, they're "supposed" to become members of the conference...but why should ANY of the established teams have scheduling problems because of them...let em play as an "independent" MAC school...then they could use it as a recruiting tool...(we "won" the IMAC).
Seriously, I think this is the best answer to a very complicated problem, which won't EVER be resolved as long as we stay a 13 team conference WITH divisions. Then, after this year, either add another team to balance out the league OR eliminate the division concept and play a straight eight game schedule with rotating teams ala the Big 11. If we still wanted to have a MAC "championship" game, take the teams with the two best conference records, regardless of where the usual "divisions" used to be, and let them play it off. Could result in a rematch of an earlier game, but what the heck!
