Not only am I big BG fan, but I like to attend the local High School football games around here. I follow BG, Otsego and Eastwood. I feel sorry for Eastwood. Anyone seen the latest HS playoff rankings.
Region 10
1, Napoleon (9-0) 25.2500.
2, Cols. Watterson (8-1) 23.7833.
3, Lima Shawnee (8-1) 21.5000.
4, Bellevue (8-1) 21.4500.
5, Cols. Eastmoor Acad. (8-1) 18.9166.
6, Clyde (7-2) 15.6277.
7, Cols. DeSales (5-4) 15.0055.
8, Sunbury Big Walnut (6-3) 14.9055.
9, Cols. Beechcroft (8-1) 14.7823.
10, Eastwood (8-1) 14.6722.
Eastwood is 10th. Top 8 teams qualify for state playoffs. Eastwood will not gain anymore points with their next win do the quality points of the opponet. Only way for them to make it into the top 8, is if 2 of 3 teams ahead of them lose, and I dont see that happening. What a shame. Eastwood will finish 9-1 and miss the playoffs.
HOWEVER
Otsego, will also finish 9-1, will make the playoffs. Who did they lose to. EASTWOOD, and not by a little bit, 56-0!!!!! I think Otsego is great, and I wish them well, but Eastwood is getting screwed. Otsego is currently 4th in their region and if they stay 4th may host a home game.
Region 14
1, Huron (9-0) 24.7777.
2, Coldwater (9-0) 19.0055.
3, Urbana (7-2) 16.2833.
4, Otsego (8-1) 16.1563.
5, Upper Sandusky (8-1) 14.9111.
6, Rossford (6-3) 14.4691.
7, Delta (7-2) 13.7333.
8, Sheffield Brookside (8-1) 13.6888.
9, Mount Gilead (6-3) 12.0333.
10, Ontario (7-2) 11.7055.

See what happens when you let computers decide the playoff teams.

Guess that is why the BCS is so weighted to the human polls now.

How about those Rossford Bulldogs!!!

That's the one reason why I'm glad they haven't left the NLL. They've shown they CAN compete, and when they do, its mega computer points for beating D1 and D2 schools!

Here in Indy, they put EVERYONE in the playoffs, much like Ohio does for basketball. I still don't know how they seed it, though, this week is the second round, and one of the sectionals has two 3-7 teams playing each other on one side, and two 10-0 teams playing each other in the other half of the bracket.

I think the Ohio system of computer points is great. It works for HS because of varying school sizes but does not work for college. You only get credit for a game if you win it, and the amount of credit you get depends on how good that team is. However, I do not like how they have watered it down to eight teams a region. It was already watered down enough with six divisions. Making the playoffs should be something a school takes pride in and measure themselves against other schools with. They have made it way to easy now. At this point they should just let everyone in.

Speaking of HS football....I figured I'd brag a little about my SHHS!!
St. Henry, ranked fifth in Division V, defeated Versailles 24-17. Jon Hemmelgarn caught a 15-yard pass from Nate Stahl with 28 seconds left as the Redskins (8-1) scored 17 fourth-quarter points to defeat the Tigers in a big Midwest Athletic Conference game. The win gives St. Henry a good shot at making the Division V playoffs for the first time in five years. Versailles is 6-3 with three losses in their last four games.
It's been a long and very uncomfotable five years in St. Henry. A town where it is EXPECTED that you make the playoffs in each of the major sports (Football, Volleyball, Boys Basketball, Baseball, and a couple of track atheletes).
Watch out for the MAC come playoff time!!

Well now...Friday night is the 100th meeting between my alma mater, Dover, and New Philadelphia. This is the 3rd longest rivalry in Ohio trailing only Canton McKinley/Massillon and Lorain/Elyria. Dover has won 9 straight years, and now the series is tied 45-45-9. I never thought we would catch New Phila since they won the first 15 games of the series, but we did.
New Phila is #5 or 6 in Div II and 9-0. Dover is 7-2 and needs a win over New Phila for a playoff spot. Dover is the 12th most successful program in Ohio HS football history. The New Phila folks have been getting pretty cocky, according to my parents, saying this is the year Dover gets blown off the field. The game is sold out and they are expecting close to 9,000 fans...not too shabby in Tuscarawas County. Dover and New Phila border each other and this game is definitely the biggest event every year in the area. Time to make it 10 straight!!!
We are taking the Freaklings to the game and I can't wait to get there.
GO TORNADOES!!!! BEAT NEW PHILA!!!!

Ironton and Portsmouth have played I think 109 times
IMO Division 4 is going to be the division to watch; Ironton, Coldwater, and Martins Ferry are all undefeated and look every good.

Maybe its "continuous rivalry"? I could be wrong but that's what I read.

Charlotte Falcon,
Great news for St. Henry. I'm a Minster grad who played back when Minster was good, back against the Hoyings. My other three brothers all played for Minster too. I take it the good teams are the usual cast of Coldwater, St. Henry, Marion, Delphos, and Versailles (not sure I'll ever get used to Versailles in the MAC). I haven't really kept up on MHS football in quite some time other than what my brothers tell me, especially since they stared running the non-passing spread offense ::puke:: . Hard times for MHS football. You can be sure the rest of the MAC will keep it real. They're usually good for one to three state champioships every year. Best of luck to St Henry.

That's crap about Eastwood! I went to their game last Friday and could not believe how good that team is. Their tailback is OUTSTANDING and their QB isn't too shabby either. For them to not make the playoffs is garbage!

Not so sure about this.
I'm pretty sure Lorain High School closed in 1995. Lorain now has Admiral King and Southview high schools.
I lived in Lorain County for four years (back when there was a Lorain High School). I don't remember Lorain-Elyria being that big a deal -- not like Canton McKinley-Massilon or Dover-New Phily.

UK Peregrine,
I dont follow the HS scene as much as I did when I was still in Ohio, but it sounds like Minster is going through a tough time at the moment. I'm sure they will get things turned around. About the only news I get on the HS football scene is from my youngest bro who is a Sr. this year and him and his friends go to all the games minus their shirts with chest painted. It drives my mom nuts...i think its funny.
As far as Versailles in the MAC, i'm happy about it. I have a TON of relatives who go to Versailles and they are always bragging about how much better they were and what not. So its nice to see how they do in a real football league.
