"I'm walking into a great situation, Anthony Turner (2004 signee) didn't qualify and won't be at Bowling Green next year. I could get a chance to play early."
He didn't qualify in what? Academics? We know we have great coverage of our team when places 20 seconds away from campus (The Sentinel) and 25 min. away (the Blade) get scooped by TheInsiders. This is pathetic. I guess we won't get to see Turner's talent in a BG uniform.

Sad.
p.s. we have Omar for three years. I'm really not that worried. It would be an awkward situation to have these guys competing next year. Omar will do fine for us and then by that time Leady should we land him will be ready. We also have the following year to recruit. This is bad but by no means the end of the world.

That would really be a shame, and I hope it's not true. We were actually looking to have more depth at QB than most BCS schools out there.
I think having an extremely talented backup/redshirt would be a good thing, not "awkward".
It might motivate Jacobs to be all he can be (not that he wouldn't anyway). Just like in business, competition is always a good thing for the consumer.

I believe this to be true. Why would we attempt to recruit/get verbal from a QB prospect if we had a redshirt waiting. Unless we were recruiting him for another position other than QB (which is doubtful).
I see this as a positive, however. We were able to land another very good QB. That says a lot to me about where our program is headed.
And yes, that glass is half full.

Well, maybe its a quarter full because in the same story Leady says he is a soft commit to Bowling Green and plans to continue to look around. We're all about depth, so there's no reason we wouldn't have recruited Leady even if we had Turner, in my opinion.
The only thing that strikes me as weird about this is the profile the Blade did of Turner at that All-Star game, which wasn't that long ago. Could you find out between then and now you didn't qualify.
This makes no sense!!!

Leady is a senior in high school this year.
Turner is scheduled to be here this year.
If he does not qualify for this year he would still be able to qualify for next year which is when Leady starts. How would that increase Leady's playing time???
Turner would have to not attend BG at all for that to happen!

And wasn't it clear we were on this young man from Pemberville well before the Big 33?
You know what else frustrated me about that recruiting story? That this kid is soft on us because he's getting talk from... Cincinnati.
I hate Cincinnati. Going 4-0 against them during the 1990s just wasn't enough to me. I wish we had the chance to keep whaling on them once in a while.

Oh. That didn't click until just now. Need more coffee. Basically, we're just a backup just in case a better looking girl doesn't ask him to homecoming. In other words, he'll go to BG just in case his senior year sux.
*sigh* the purity of college football.

As was discussed earlier on Leady, if he has a big Senior year it is quite possible bigger schools will come looking at him. I'm not quite ready to believe that we're to the level of stealing prospects away from the good Big10 programs. Sure, we can out recruit Indiana and Northwestern, but the guys who have all spurned bigger Big10 teams have ended up with issues (I'm thinking of Turner w/ Iowa & Robinson w/ Minnesota; both have grade issues, I guess).
The fact is that all verbals to all schools are soft at this time of year. Even the big programs have verbals from some kids only to later lose them when that kid's DREAM school offers. Or he reconsiders because he wants to be closer to home. Or he just decides he'd rather not go there. Whatever the case is. You have to know that with a MAC school verbals are about worth the paper they're written on
Like Schaden, however, I'm disconcerted that he's awaiting an offer from Cincinnati. I would not consider that school a real step up from BG, but aren't they moving to the Big East? If so that would explain why a kid would want to go there instead of the MAC. They've got someone who I believe will be a big time coach there now. If they're on their way into the Big East with a big time coach then I can see why they'd be a more attractive option than the local MAC team.
I'm still gonna have to get out to the battle of the Woods this year and check this kid out.

I believe that Kevin Leady is incorrect about AT.

Big East football is about to become a big joke.
Cincinnati is destined to become one of its biggest punchlines.

What leads you to believe it?
I hope you're right. I watched the Big 33 game, and AT was incredible. I hope like hell he's allowed to wear the orange and brown.
