Some teams play 7 conference games; some play 8 conference games. Therefore, only division games count in the standings (unless a tie-breaker situation arises).
Not only will this year's attendance for the BG/Toledo game likely suffer, it will not even count in the MAC standings. How nice.
The league deserves to have a West champ go 5-7 overall (5-0 in division games) versus an East champ (5-7 overall, 5-1 division). Our league champ can finish 6-7.
