Last Friday's Sentinel-Tribune had an invitation to bid notice to put in Field Turf at Doyt Perry. I heard that work is to begin in early April.

Anyone else heard anything about this??

Nice find!

It's been speculated for weeks, but no official announcement has been made. I guess the cat is out of the bag now.

If we're gonna get field turf, it should be orange.

If people hate the blue Smurf turf of Boise State just imagine the comments on orange Falcon turf.

We're getting it done for a little over $1 million, and looks like we're going to see all new fences too. Sounds like a pretty big renovation to me.

Thanks for posting that, even though I thought it was going to be a limerick at first... :(

Not the "brick and iron" fences everyone was pulling for, but a fresh look around the stadium nonetheless...

We can all wish but after Boise made a lake in their stadium with that turf the NCAA has mandated all field turf must be green. Boise gets to keep theirs because they are grandfathered into the old system before the new rule. I'd love orange turf, though. That would really look bizarre on TV.

Hope they decorate it right

I certainly hope they do a nice job of what they put in the end zones and at the 50 yard line.

They need to put a fence up similiar to what UM has around Michigan Stadium. Would make it look very classy from the road.

Then they need to renovate the stadium underneath the stands like redesigning the concession areas. The Doyt has to have one of the worse concession areas in the MAC.

But they can work on that next week.

OK. I may hate our schedule and may have sworn off all games this year and my season tickets, on another thread, but I will not be able to resist and will go to games, but only to see the turf and not the other teams.

I repeat, I'm only going to see the turf and our team. I will block out the opponent.

Well, if they don't open bids until April 12, they won't start work until after that. Still, it is great to see progress being made.

Good point.

Which also explains part of the Spring Game site being listed as TBA... (although the field has been stated as "unplayable" anyway, so TBA might just be a CYA move in case rain moves it to Perry Fieldhouse)
