10,731........WTF?!?! Do any BG fans in the state understand how frickin' good we are?! This is the kind of support we show?! Thanks to all 10,731 that turned out but I am sorry, this is sickening!
For crying out loud, CMU had almost 20,000 today to see 1-win WMU play. I know they are rivals, but still.
Something must be done. Our marketing, promotions, ticket prices, something - and I don't know the answer. I'm not asking for 30,000, but one-third of that is a joke.

The only explanation I have is that the fair weather fans are not turning out in droves like last year because they think we're out of the MAC West race due to our loss at Northern. I got to the lot around 2:15 and expected a sparse tailgating crowd because of the hockey game, but still expected a good crowd by kickoff. It was a wonderful day. I had on shorts and wasn't cold until late in the game. We couldn't have asked for a better day at the end of October. I would love to hear some reasons why people didn't attend (aside from being 500+ miles away from BG).

I was going off at the beginning of the game saying we need to get rid of our marketing director. No one does anything to promote the games anymore it seems. Everyone on this site is fine, it's the people that forgot BG exists are the ones who are ticking me off! Something needs to be done if we can't even get 11,000 in the Doyt...this is just pathetic!

Damn...now I have to eat a bug.
The student section seemed a little sparse too. Was everyone in Athens for Halloween?
Part of the problem is the opposition. This has to be the least attractive home slate in recent memory. Ball State and EMU are so terrible. I must admit, I was less than thrilled by the thought of watching another blowout against a glorified 1AA program. Combine the lackluster opponents with the early loss to NIU and you have the limited interest we're seeing. It's a ridiculous situation...maybe we should move to the Big East, at least we'd have some fresh opposition.
This is a very good, very fun team to watch. NW Ohioans and the folks in Michigan are such great football fans, you'd think more of them would make the trek down I-75. But I've been saying that since 2001 and frankly, I'm getting tired of it.

I admit, some teams are "more fun" to watch than others. But do BG "fans" not enjoy watching BG win? I know I am preaching to the choir on here and that we're not the problem, but I've got to vent somewhere besides in my fiancee's ears.

The on-campus students left town -- Lot 6 near Wooster was nearly a ghost town -- There were lots of parents and youngsters on the west side taking advantage of the family night promotion.
Not all of the blame belongs on BG -- The quality of the teams in the MAC is DREADFUL -- BG is fun to watch but the simple fact is more people would rather sit in the comfort of their family room or in the bar and watch Michigan-Michigan State than a game at Perry Field -- The weather was no excuse Saturday night. It was windy, but it's always windy in BG.
How anyone who truly watches this team could be bored is beyond me -- there's so much going on in this offense -- the line play is unreal -- Omar usually gets all day to pass -- etc.

I was planning on going, but our HS volleyball team was playing down Findley (#2 in the state, we are #16) @ Liberty Benton, so I figured I would get to see the falcons dominate in enough games, but our volleyball hasn't gotten this far in the state tourny in quite a while...unfortunatly we lost. But congrats to the falcons for beating down the EMU's!

Playing Findley down in Liberty Benton. But yeah, I make a lot of typing mistakes.

Saturday might have been the most damaging day for our program in a decade.
If Brandon is anywhere near the fence about some hypothetical Nevada-Las Vegas offer, you've got to think looking up in the stands Saturday could influence his thinking.
If Paul Krebs ever had a notion of considering an opportunty somewhere else* instead of continuing to wait out Andy Geiger here at BGSU, looking up in those stands could not have been a good thing for him or us.
A bowl game? I don't even want to talk about it.
A lot of strongly held ideas I've had about our program appear to have been illusions.
In some ways, I'm more down today as a Falcon football fan than I was in 2000.

I find it interesting that MOST of the fans that complain about our attendance, are those who WEREN'T at the game.

I will be at the next two.
My work responsibilities have made it impossible for me to attend the first three.

To be honest, no. I have not enjoyed one of BG's home games this year one bit. They're boring blowouts against teams that have no business being on the field with us. If the game somehow turned out to be an actual close contest than that's all the worse.
I go to every game because I'm a BG fan and I support BG football. If I were not a die hard BG fan and just a fan of college football in general there is no way in hell I'd go to these games. Don't you all realize how incredibly BORING they are? Yeah, I want us to win. Yeah, I love that its by a big margin. As uncompetitive as these games are there is no way you can expect anyone who is not a true football fan to show up, and against this competition its asking a lot to get anyone who's not a die hard BG fan in the stands.
I knew things were grim when we were tailgating and there was almost nobody out there until after 4:00. But it is understandable, despite what we all want to believe, watching these easy wins over cupcakes is only marginally more exciting than the Blackney years. The results are drastically improved, but when it comes to actually enjoying the entertainment value, its just not there against these patsies.
If this team wanted attendance this year they should've taken care of business in Dekalb, the one meaningful game we've played yet this season. Unfortunately they choked and were unprepared for that game. Now you're trying to get a fan base to come out and watch blowouts against far inferior competition when the Ball State-NIU game has a larger bearing on our chances for postseason play than the home game does.

I think that's probably not accurate. I was there, and so were many of the people who thought the attendance was poor.

as usual, hammb hits the nail on the head. We go b/c we love BG. The people at the game yesterday are the same way. But seriously, going to see blowouts isnt fun. I get mad when they show games like Oklahoma v. Baylor on national TV, and game such as BG Purdue last year are not. I dont care what team you like, that was one hell of a football game. I dotn even watch games that I know will be blowouts on TV. I even watched an osu game by CHOICE b/c it was going to be the closer game.
The only people that like to watch blowouts of crap teams are the hardcore fans. The casual fans liek good games. Which out home slate has none of until Marshall.
