Steve Sanders back on the active roster at Berlin.

Post by mmisbg »

Steve Sanders is now listed on the active roster for the Berlin Thunder. If I remember correctly, he was on the IR list. I would think that this would suggest that Omar Jacobs could return. His injury was said to take 5 to 6 weeks to recover from. Of course, an ankle sprain typically takes longer. Anyway, here's hoping.

Steve actually played in their lost to hamburg two weeks ago. He was in for a couple of plays. Had an off sides penalty called against him and they threw deep to him but it was incomplete. I didn't see the game, I got this from the play by play details.

I haven't been able to locate a detailed boxscore from this weeks game. I know they lost. They really need Omar to get healthy.

The NFL networks schedule shows this for Saturday May 5th:
Sat. 5/5 Berlin Thunder at Cologne Centurions 12 Noon ET (LIVE)

Any idea when Omar will return from IR?

I watched the Berlin Thunder's game on Saturday, Steve played a ton, but they didn't throw one pass his way. He looks like either the 3rd or 4th receiver.

They did not say anything about Omar, but did talk about the other QB and how they wanted to start working him in. Not sure what that means.

It was a very entertaining game.

I got to see the last seven or eight minutes of the game. Sanders was out there the whole time. So I thought the fact he was in at crunch time was encouraging. (Berlin was down 28-24 and scored a TD with just over a minute to go to win 31-28.) Berlin did seem to run the ball alot in the last drive though. :?

Interesting point was that the Cologne kicker who shanked the game tying FG was the guy Suisham replaced with the Redskins.

I noticed Steve on 1 catch for 7 yards this past weekend. That gives him 2 catches for 26 yards on the season.

Steve has been a starter at WR for the last 3 games. Wish they would throw to him a little more.

Does anyone know anything on the status of Omar?

I've been wondering this as well. I would think that he should be ready to play ball by now. Also, Berlin's QB has started stinking it up. One would think he'd be seeing some action right now.

There are far and away too many QB's for comfort in Kansas City. Their mini-camp is on June 2nd. Let's hope some good news comes by then.

Go Omar!

I e-mailed the Thunder about Omar and here is the response...

My name is Andy Lutzky, and I am the U.S. Public Relations Manager with the Berlin Thunder. Hope all is well.

Our PR Director, Cem Herder, recently forwarded me an e-mail from you regarding Omar Jacobs. As far as I know, he is still rehabilitating back in the United States. He gets re-evaluated regularly, and the decision of whether he's ready to return to action is made by the doctors and athletic trainers with him. While we certainly hope he returns to us soon, only time will tell when he is ready.

We appreciate your concern. Thank you.

Berlin starts THREE TE's? Never heard of that allignment as a STARTING unit. An extra TE for short yardage blocking perhaps, but 3 ?
