We got our first verbal for next year. He is Brandon Kluener from Cincinnati OH. He is a OG and stands 6'4 280 5.1 He picked us over interest from Virginia and Cinicnnati. We were the first school to offer him.

He's from Colerain High School - that's where Coach Kelly of Cincinnati wants to do a lot of recruiting because it is a big-time football power in the Cincinnati area. In fact, Kelly even hired some assistants from Colerain to his staff to help bring in some of those kids. Interesting that Brandon picked us over the Bearcats ... this is a good sign.

I know Colerain. Definately a great football school. BG needs to recruit schools like that (St. Eds, St. Iggy's, St. X, Massillon, Colerain, etc) hard as well. Schools that have good FB tradition.

massilon and st. eds arent what they used to be at all. When i went to high school in buffalo new york, st. eds came up to play a private school in buffalo and got beat pretty easily. And it's not like buffalo or new york for that matter is a football hot bed. haha. Nah but both those schools have gone down hill significantly in terms of football teams. Kids in the area are just staying at mentor and avon lake instead of going to a private school.

Moneymaker,
Don't know when YOU went to HS, but Ed's traditionally is a TOP 10 School in Ohio....believe they had 4-5 kids go to D-1 schools as a result in past year, including a RB who picked Ball St. over BG in February. Massilon's reputation as a football power was largely built on winning the MYTHICAL Ohio championship, prior to the current playoff system. They've not won a state title since if I'm not mistaken...But they still produce some excellent D-1 athletes yearly.

Either way, I'd have to say that either or both of these schools could usually come into the Buffalo area and win games against NY "powers". In any one given year, ANY school can be "down" in terms of sports...Heck, look at our men's programs this past year.

I agree that those teams may have had a down year now and then, but TRADITIONALLY they have the athletes that can play DI college ball.

Yup. Griffey went to Moeller. He broke my high school band director's nose once with a baseball in gym class in the Moeller high school days.
