BGSU Summer Voyage Report

I made my annuals summer voyage back to Bowling Green this past Sunday. I strolled out to the stadium to take a look at the progress of the new video/scoreboard. There really wasn't much new going on from what was last reported. The new top piece of the board was just sitting on the ground. Despite it looking like a solid front piece, it's actually more of a tightly pulled mesh front, like a windscreen, with the new BG logo. It appears this is where the speakers will reside in the new project. The ground was dug up and that was about all to report.
I was trying to imagine what the new SAC would look like, but couldn't place which end zone it was going to sit in. Does anyone know if it is going to go in the north or south end zone? If it's in the south, then the tents will obviously come back out, but I assume it will have to be built lower than the new video/scoreboard. If it's the north, would they move the current north bleachers to the south end zone? Let me know what you all may be aware of.
One thing that really jumped out to me that could be a very nice improvement to the stadium was to replace those old wooden bleachers in the north end zone with some nice closed-in (not open air like the wooded one) aluminium seating that could help "close" the open feel to that side of the stadium. Those bleachers are in pretty poor shape.
I could tell where some of the rails were painted and it looked a lot better than the pink rails we all know so much about. There is still a lot of pink railings out there however. It looks like part of the underside of the stadium were painted orange somewhat recently which was a nice touch. I wouldn't mind seeing some more painted out there. It just looked better instead of the grey cement everywhere.
I saw the new banners in Anderson Arena, but that was about all that looked liked it change. No surprise there.
For those of you in the area, you already know this, but there is a ton of construction going on with Wooster Road (I think that's the road name) running all along the south side of campus. It started out by the I-75 bridge and ran all the way past Founders Quad. It was an eye-sore to see that much construction going on along the entire side of campus, but I guess it was needed. It appears they are putting in more driving lanes, is that correct for those of you that know?
One thing that becomes more and more clear to me every time I come back to campus is, especially after visiting other schools, it sure would be nice for BGSU to plant more trees on campus. For a school so flat, it would really help our campus look better with some more trees around the place. I think that would be a very nice addition. It looks like we may have lost even more trees with the widening of the road onto the edge of campus.
Unfortunately, the bookstores (on and off campus) were closed because it was a Sunday in the summer, and I couldn't buy anything while I was in town. But I looked into the windows, and there is a lot of good looking new BG gear for sale. There's a lot of stuff that isn't posted online. It's worth checking out.
Before we left town, we made a stop at Frickers where we polished off a ton of wings! I always craved Frickers wins when I come to town.
GO BG!!!
