sorry if this has been mentioned, but 2 analysts have us in the Emerald Bowl, Slicon Valley FB Classic Bowl and Ft. Worth....
Am I missing something..? I thought these bowls were for the PAC-10-MTN West and PAC 10-WAC and CUSA-Big 12
Clue me in please..I am lost! Is this contigent upon certain teams from these other conferences not being eligible?
thanks

I believe you are correct. This is due to the fact that teams can only play 11 regular season games now, so it is harder for teams to get to be bowl eligible (6 games). Therefore, all those teams that went to bowls last year with 6-6 records, might not be able to go this year, seeing that they could finish 5-6 now. Jeff

There are also some teams, such as Mich. State and Northwestern, that have 12 games this season. The bowl eligibility requires that those teams must have 7 wins, not the typical 6 wins.

Last weekend was an example of the type of stuff, we as BG fans, do not want to see keep happening --- the so-so teams lingering around .500 knocking off teams that should beat them. Maryland over Florida State, North Carolina over Miami, Northwestern over Purdue....those games were examples of games where if the favorite wins, it helps eliminate the chances of other schools becoming bowl eligible. As a "fan" of college football I love seeing upsets, but as a "BG fan" needing help, I don't like seeing it right now.
The bottom line is, for us top even have a chance at an at-large bowl bid, BG needs to have very few BCS teams sitting around that are bowl eligible or we will get picked over.

Good point. We need the favorites to win in the BCS conferences!
