Looks like we'll travel lightly that week...leave the grill home since we won't have a whole lot of time before the game. I figure a BiG breakfast and a few beers before the game...

61 days to go....

If you have never been to a game at MSU before, GO!!! The tailgating is phenomenal and it is an experience that should not be missed. Plus, Lansing is just a fun town to hang out in. I may even try to get up there for this one!

In nearby Okemos, there is a frickin AWESOME restaurant called International Club International Restaurant & Tuba Museum.

There menu is like 20 pages with food from all over. It's nothing more than a basic diner with a patio, but the food is really, really good and they have 30+ tubas on the walls.

If you go - eat there.

For all of you Tubists, it's a must-see.

the band and the cheerleaders went there for dinner one night when the team was up there for the women's bball tourney. I would say most of us were not to happy with the food served. Could be because we brough in about 30 people and the owner didnt tell his staff we were coming.
I did like seeing all the tubas and euphoniums around the room. But that was about all... maybe other will have better luck

Thanks for the update CowboyJoe. A noon start should be perfect to make the morning drive down I96 to attend the game.

Yeah - it is a tiny place. When we went everything was great, but there were five other people in there....

If you're making the trip from East Lansing back to Ohio, and are looking for a good beer selection I'd recommend Ashley's in Ann Arbor.

http://www.ashleys.com/

The selection here is almost unheard of. 65 beers on TAP! That's not just some dusty old bottles sitting in the corner, but they actually have 65 taps...unlike anyplace else I've ever been. Food is typical bar fare, nothing special, but the beer selection is worth going out of your way for. And since you'll be driving right down 23 anyways, I'd DEFINITELY make the stop...although Michigan has Oregon at home that day, so perhaps it's not a great idea. They'll likely be packed for a gameday.

Still, I'd try to make the stop, you won't be disappointed.

65 beers on tap is ridiculous! The most I recall seeing is at this place in STL: http://www.ciceros-stl.com/

It lists 50+ drafts, but I'm not sure if they're all there at the same time. Their selection of "dusty old bottles" is pretty impressive and the food's alright, too. :-D

Maumee does have the Brew House right on Airport Highway. It boasts about 30 or so taps, and a HUGE menu. Not quite as big of a beer selection, but the driving time is much easier on the wallet.
