First, the big topic is the question of Temple joining the MAC either as a football-only member or a full fledge member. There have been discussions, but not sure how serious.
Second, Pete Winovich has been moved from TE to LB. Not to try to fuel any fires, but there was another thread about some LBs leaving the team. Any connection? Strange thing is I just went through the media notes for this weeks game and it still shows Winovich as the third string TE.

Warhog, I think that's a very good thing.
Our offense de-emphasizes the TE about as much as you possibly can. Our TEs are rarely catching passes, and are not even on the field much of the time.
Conversely, we have a history of taking our best athletes away from the defensive side of the ball. Winovich was possibly the best athlete from last year's recruiting class, and as I recall was seen as an equally good prospect at either side of the ball.
Glad to see we're putting some talent into our defense!

I agree Hammb, I am glad to see Winovich getting a chance on defense. I guess I was just questioning the means by which he got there? It sounded like Brandon was saying we have lost some of our LBs and that we needed bodies, without giving up Haneline's redshirt. So what is the reason that we needed some more guys at LB?
I like Winovich at LB anyway

Since he's the athlete everybody's says he is, than defense is good for him. And we his kind of size at LB anyway.

Lets nto forget that Todd DiBacco was leading the team in receptions and yards after about 3 plays into the season at OU. Hes a champ, and a TE now.

I thought Brandon said something about getting more athletic at TE and utilizing the position more in the passing game. Having Winovich there was a step in the right direction if that was the intention.
That being said, whatever gets this kid on the field more, I'm behind it. Hammb, you're right and it's good to see a top-shelf athlete on the defensive side of the ball. I have high hopes for this kid; I think he could be a defensive star for a few years.

My bet is that this is out of necessity due to Jenkins Reese leaving the team as reported today in the bland and on another thread.

This is great news! Winovich has the talent and tools to be a dominant LB.
