thats fine because I hope Miami(OH) stomps Toledo so that we can get into the mid major six. If you look at NIU's and Toledo's 2 losses they are to joke teams. NIU lost to a horrid Maryland team and I don't care if they are 4-4 and beat Florida State, I've watched 4 of their games this year and they are horrible. They also lost to Iowa State which isn't too hot this year either. Toledo got crushed by Minnesota and Kansas both of which aren't stellar this year. We lose to Oklahoma (8-0) and NIU (7-2) and yet we aren't the best 2 loss team, makes ZERO sense to me. Especially when we are blowing out our crappy opponents by 3-5 TD's and Toledo and NIU are struggling in their games against just terrible opponents. To me, this doesn't make any sense. For NIU to move up in the polls for beating a 1-7 team in OT is beyond belief to me. But I don't worry because we will beat Toledo and Marshall and that will give Toledo 3 losses and Marshall 4 losses and Miami(OH) if they lose to Toledo will have 4 losses so that means we'll be 9-2 and NIU will maybe be 10-2 but if they lose to Toledo or EMU they'll be 9-3 so at 9-2 we'd have to get that second bowl bid for the MAC considering any team in the MAC east has 4 losses. But since C-USA has like 5 bowl tie ins and only 4 of their teams are bowl eligible right now that could give us another possible slot, the only problem is that we'd be playing an inferior opponent like a Houston or BYU. YUCK!

Or worse, Miami doesn't show up and UT eeks out a win.
I can't understand the hype UT, haven't all year long. Who have they beaten, how have the beaten them, how badly have they been beaten? Something has managed to get their QB lodged into the medias mind as being the next big deal in the MAC. This misses the point that Omar is better and also has two more years to play. Great QBs don't play at UT. QBs that play at UT don't become great.

I think toledo may win tonite, we cant deny their offense when it clicks. Even if it consists of 4 plays, it works somehow. I think Miami is a great team. I have watched ut in action more than Mu though, and they looked better. Granted i was toledo at home v. testicle tech and central, compared to Mu on the road at Marshall. I think it will be a close game. either team could easily come out with a win.

DON'T GO MIAMI!!!
Since I refuse to say GO "you know who", I must say Don't Go MIAMI!!! Face it...we need UT to win, win, and then lose. In other words, beat Miami, beat NIU, and then lose to BG. That's what will make us MAC West Champs and the polls will fall in place. I'd rather BG be ranked in the end. Now does not matter.
Also, ESPN is looking out for their ratings. UT vs. NIU is their feature game next week. Both of them ranked in mid-major poll helps boost interest in the game. If UT beats NIU and we beat Marshall, I just bet UT and BG will both be in that poll the week before our game. It's all about the ratings.

I do think Miami's defense can be abused at times. But they are better than what UT has faced in-conference. It is the question of if UT's defense can stop Miami, which I don't think it can. But then Miami has been turn-over happy at times, which even Toledo can take advantage of. Both teams are like the MAC in general this year. This year, almost all MAC teams are playing like programs "a year away" from being title contenders. Each has a flaw or two, inconsistent play, problems putting bad teams away, outright chokes in important games.

Uh, yeah. Let's not forget that we dominated you physically on the field, something that you guys keep bragging about Okie *not* doing.BGSUfanatUT wrote:WEll given that you make NIU look bad based on their losses, we lsot to them, which makes us look even worse for the beating they layed on us. Granted OK more than makes up for that.

HuskieDan...
I think we all gave your team credit, but remember this is a BG board, so you will always hear strong sentiments for BG and against our competitors. I wouldn't be so quick to call it dominance, but that's your take on the game. The game was much closer than the score indicated. I am sure we could come up with a thousand excuses, but it doesn't matter at this point. But honestly, even you must admit that your performance was quite sad against CFU and Ball State. Yes, you have a good team, but those performances will keep many from calling your team dominant. In the end, they call this forum Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba for a reason and as hard as you may try to change our minds, we will always feel we have the better team.

I have an excuse for you. We played the worst game of the year and you guys played your best and won by 2 TD's, does that say much? Our 2 losses are to teams who are 15-2 and your 2 losses are to teams who are 8-8, that speaks volumes to me. Additionally, we are winning our games by 3-4 TD's on average while you are squeaking out wins against I-AA Southern Illinois, Ball State and UCF. I mean cmon man you guys have a good team but we played the third game of the year, you can't expect it to be the same if we played next week. Our offense is clicking, Omar is the best QB in the nation on paper if you take into account all categories because he is ranked top 7 in all but 1 and he's 15th in that one. Regardless of everything I just said, we were beat and its our fault. We had the chance on national TV to have a good showing and dominate in a dogfight on the road and we didn't do that. We get to live with it because we probably wont' win the MAC because of it. Again, our fault. But I stand by my previous comments about why and about your team without taking anything away from you, just being honest.

yeah, Dan, i didnt mean to take anythign away from you guys, you ahvea darn good team, and beat us handily. I was just sayign that whomever posted that stuff, was saying how we are better based on who our losses are too, which I buy. But you cant make the other team look bad, when we lost to them, its liek saying "see how much they suck... but our loss to them wasnt bad b/c look at their record" I dunno. It just downplays our own accomplishments.
like the chant "O-VER-RAT-ED" I hate that chant. Its basically yelling. "you guys are in actuallity a bad team, so our victory over you today is worth nothign b/c we beat a bad team" It jsut makes your own accomplishments look bad, why would you want to do that?

Man! Would I love to play that game later in the season!
I will root for NIU in the MACC, but Dan, the hatred for BG's a little too controlling wouldn't you say?
Re: HuskieDan...
Actually, that was Gregg Brandon's take. "A good, old-fashioned country butt-kicking". His words, not mine.BelieveNBG wrote:I wouldn't be so quick to call it dominance, but that's your take on the game.
I don't hate BG. I am getting sick of hearing excuses from BG and their coaches as to why they lost in DeKalb and now, despite the result on the field, you're rationalizing how you're better than us. I guess if it floats your boat.Cork wrote:I will root for NIU in the MACC, but Dan, the hatred for BG's a little too controlling wouldn't you say?
For the record, I'll be pissed if you guys get a bowl game this year, but not because I don't like BG or don't want to see another MAC team rewarded - it'd be because we would have apparently done the heavy lifting last year (meaning,we were too damn good to be left out, yet were) and not directly seen the benefits of it (though our current ranking is a bit of of a benefit of that - but I'd take a bowl game any day). It'd be more pissed at the system for leaving us out last year and for the correction happening a year late.
