Street & Smith singles out Anthony Turner

In the “Rating the Players” section of the MAC in Street & Smith, it reads:

Biggest Underachiever – Anthony Turner, QB, Bowling Green

Man do I hope this is the year Turner can really show what he can do and what he is made of. Not that he isn’t already under the gun to perform well aside from the challenges he’s facing from his fellow QB teammates, but maybe he’ll cut out this article and clip it in his locker to use as some more motivation this season. While I like some of the things I have seen from Tyler Sheehan and there is promising news surrounding guys like Anthony Glaud and Nate Brown, I really want to see Turner succeed.

I want Turner to succeed as well, but I am not opposed going to the others if he doesn't show some consistency in the early league schedule. He has had his time to grow and if he can't get it by now I wouldn't feel bad for him if we went a different direction at the qb spot.

I really hope to see improvement with his accuracy and overall poise in the pocket as well as making consistant throws.

Yep, this is it for Turner. He will either step up this August and establish himself as the quarterback we all hoped he would be when he signed on with BG or he will fade into obscurity as another highly regarded recruit who just never really panned out.

I echo these statements. They say QB's make their best improvements between the SO and JR seasons...and AT is now a JR. I want him to be the man but I also want our QB, whoever it is, to move the chains consistently and put the ball in the end zone.

I feel this is AT's last chance...either do it now or have someone else take over.

45 days....

He did well against Akron, as well as could be expected against Miami and he did well against Toledo after getting pulled. I'm hoping that he will build on that and really take charge this fall. Sheehan has a nice arm, but I don't think he makes his reads any better than Turner does and he definitley isn't going to get the yards Turner will with his feet.

Don't know enough about Glaud...my limited view of him has been that his arm is a tad weak.

I'm really anxious to see what Nate Brown can do.

The WR's will be bolstered by a pair of JUCO's that got some mention on here but have been largeky ignore by the media. Keston Cheatem was a *** signee for Michigan in 2004.He xferred after his redshirt year to Oregon State. He sat out 2005 as a transfer, but then left OSU in 2006. He wound up playing JUCO in Cali and had a pretty decent year. Looks like he has a nice mix of size and speed. Jermiah Kelley is aslo from a Cali JUCO. I can't find any info on him other than his stats from last year (caught 51 balls) and his time for the track team in the 100 meters (11.76...ok but not excatly elite).

I think having a couple of guys who have played at a level above HS to throw to should help whomever our QB is.

I want a new qb Turner sucks and we wasted a year on him already, time for a positive change! We have good qb's lets use them and spend this season doing that.

Haha, I was waiting for this...what makes you think we have better QBs then Turner right now? None of them have proved anything...I might spend more time arguing with you if you could provide some factual evidence to support your argument. Cuz right now, Turner has accomplished more then any of the other quarterbacks...may not of been much so far, but I do believe he will be the man opening day. If not I believe he will be on the field somewhere, hes too good of an athlete...

MACMAN,
How many years did you play QB in HS and college? While Turner has not been what we hoped so far, to say he sucks is comical. He sucks so badly he was recruited heavily by crap schools like Iowa and West Virginia. I think he gets one more shot this fall....

Seriously, LAY OFF AT. Or at least have the kahunas to say stuff like this to his face. It's easy to take shots at a kid from a keyboard. Reading your posts makes me want AT to get it done even more.

Less than 45....

I slightly remember reading a blurb bout 2 Cali Juco Wr's coming here but I couldn't find the post or thread it was contained in. These guys better be studs right away cuz they won't have much time to play here.

Amen, Come on now MACMAN lets wait to see what happens later in the season! I think it's bout time we support players on this team instead of knocking them down no matter where they are on the depth chart

Turner sucks and inhales!
We should have droped him prior to last season and worked on G
He is a bad QB.
But when your aspiring to 4 or 5 wins he may be a "dual threat" guess that means he can roll and carries a water bong.
Who knows maybe he will go for the triple threat and try dog fighting...but a good qb he is not, and any commitment to him by this coach is just bad judgement...much like his commitment to the spread punt formation...that guy and this team are in a downward spiral folks, and if they dont make some changes it going to be ugly.

They both have 2 to play 2....

Can any of you Turner haters name a game that he cost us last year? I don't think we would have won that game down in Florida or the Buffalo game without his passing, but I can't think of a game he cost us.

The defense giving up long touchdowns on first and second down plays damaged us more than anything AT did or didn't do

Are you for real? You can't tell me, at the same time, that everything is rosy with the hockey program and the football program is in a downward spiral and convince me that you are NOT an evil automaton.

Either way, you are a very small person (or robot) to type the things you do about a college kid. I don't know how you can live with yourself.

I've never been able to figure out what joy people like macman derive from doing this. He posts truly nasty comments about some kid in a public forum (using a writing style that suggests he's at least mildly retarded) so people can respond angrily.

What exactly is the point to it? Does he crave attention that badly?
