Things are becoming a tad clearer on the Sports Information Director situation after the position was listed as "Cancelled" on the HR site.
The current athletic department directory lists the two remaining members of the Sports Information staff--Mike Cihon and Dave Meyer--but now also includes the specific sports they are responsible for.

JD, as the head guy, did football and men's basketball. Meyer is now listed as the primary football contact and Cihon is listed as the men's basketball contact. A third staff member is not listed and a handful of sports--including women's basketball--are presently missing and will probably go to the new person.
The question is whether this "Co-SID" arrangement is probationary or permament. The position of "Assistant Athletic Director for Communications" remains listed as TBA in the directory, so that might be an indication that this is a trial run.
