I thought you Falcon fans might be interested in this excerpt from a Big 10 review published in the Detroit Free Press online site. I will only say that I beg to differ with this assessment, especially after watching all the Minnesota practices this week:
11. MINNESOTA (100-1 - Field) - Tim Brewster takes over for Glen Mason, who had guided the Golden Gophers to five straight bowl appearances.
Strengths - Minnesota has produced 1,000-yard rushers by the score, but might not this year as the offense switches to a spread formation. Eight starters return to a defense that the new coaching staff wants to "attack with attitude."
Weaknesses - In order to run the spread offense, multiple receivers are needed, something the Gophers lack heading into the new season. In fact, the defense has ripped apart the offense during spring and the early fall practices.
Bottom Line - Minnesota will be lucky to win one conference game, and will also lose to Bowling Green the first week of the season. If Brewster and company win four games, they'll take it. Bet against the Gophers each and every Saturday.

MACMAN
We beat Mazzou in 1995, on our way to a losing season. We might win, it may be the highlight of the season. Though I could do with beating Toledo at home as the only win if needed.

Actually I think quite a few fans did. BG was coming off a good year in which we were snubbed for a bowl. I was tailgating with BG fans I just met, and every one was confident that BG would win. I don't usually bet, but I worked with 4 Purdue grads and bet two straight up and got 11.5 from the other two. It was good spending money.reyray82 wrote:And I guess we all saw that Purdue win coming from a few years back.

I was on a Purdue message board during August telling those cocky mothers that they were in for a very rude awakening.... On gameday I was up at the Big House (my brother had tickets and I hadn't seen him in a year) and I was telling all the Big 10 fanboys up there that BG was taking out the Bilermakers that day...most of them thought I was nuts until they rolled that halftime score....
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

The silence at the end of the game was incredible. I was sitting on the opposite end from where the majority of BG fans were. The players went over to that section and celebrated.
I had some douche Purdue fan get in my face after the game. He was screaming about the safety Cole Magner took to run out the clock. He kept screaming " A game can't end on a penalty, A game can't end on a penalty". How can anyone think a safety is a penalty?
I wish I had that whole game on DVD.

Just out of curiousity, is there anyway to get a copy of that game? Wish I would've seen it. I still remember seeing that final score flash up, and just going nuts!tiznow wrote:Flipper wrote:I was on a Purdue message board during August telling those cocky mothers that they were in for a very rude awakening....
