Post by bgsuman »

Alex Smith.

This season, he has completed 131 of 203 passes for 1,905 yards and 20 touchdowns with only two interceptions.

Omah Jacobs.

This season, he has completed 206 of 301 passes for 2533 yards and 23 touchdowns with only two interceptions

Jacobs needs some more love...

Omar is 6-2 with losses against the only 2 teams on his schedule that could play their way out of a paper bag.

Utah's QB is 8-0 and ranked 6 in the country, and absolutely demolished the best team on their schedule (A & M).

Omar will get heisman love when he puts up the numbers and wins against top notch competition. If you're not undefeated or one loss you aren't talking Heisman, especially in a mid-major.

Demolishing the best team on their schedule can't be that tough...

Texas A & M is a better team than anyone we've beaten by a long shot. The only team on our schedule better than them is OU.

Utah is tough as nails, baby. I've seen them play a game or 2 and they should be in a BCS game...provided they run the table. I'd love to see Utah and Boise State in the Fiesta bowl. That would be one bad azz game.

That would be cool but at the same time i would rather see them play a BCS team. Beating BSU would not garner anymore attention. Utah needs to get a BCS bowl and beat a BCS team so all the people like Trev Alberts can shut their mouths. ....In addition, to beating a&M, Utah creamed NC. A week later NC beats FSU. This is one of the best teams out there.

Since everyone is saying Utah is the real deal...

Who would win if BG played them?

I think SOME of our secondary would have some problems with their receivers but I don't think they could stop Omar & Co. and we would win...

We'd be outcoached, but I think we've got more talent.

I think we'd lose, but we may give them a better game than anyone else on their schedule. Probably put the over under at about 95.

I've said for several weeks now that Utah's top 22 players, starters on offense and defense, are as good as anyone not named Auburn, USC and possibly Oklahoma. Although, I think Oklahoma is the most sketchy of that group.

Utah's problem is when you have to go to the two and three deep portions of the depth chart. They just don't have enough at those positions to keep up with the others. Barring an injury though, they will not have any problems with any team they play excluding the top 3 in the Fiesta Bowl.

Bowling Green v. Utah on an open field turns into a track meet. Omar could move the ball on them, but their defense is very underrated. We would also have visions of Dec 6, 2003 when Miami receivers were going to the line and raising their hand saying that Jelani Jordan was guarding them and proceeding to run go routes all day.

We do not have an answer for Steve Savoy as long as Keon is at safety. Keon is the only guy that plays regularly, b/c I hope there are two guys being redshirted that are better than Mayberry/Jordan, that could play with Steve Savoy.

Utah's defense wins it . . . and Urban puts up all kinds of points b/c that staff is simply better

45-24 Utes.

I think we would beat them at home and I think they would beat us in Utah. They are clearly a good team but no better at all than Miami(OH) was last year! Now THAT was a mid-major BCS buster who could've run with ANY team. They would've given any top team last year a run for their money and you cannot say that about this Utah team. Miami(OH) was tested several times and played many top teams while Utah hasnt' played anyone really. Both Omar and Alex are sophs but Omar is clearly the better QB because the numbers say so against similar competition except we have played OU and they havent' played any really top program. About being outcoached, I guess I could agree with that but I think Gregg Brandon has worked himself into a Niche and is doing a wonderful job and will only get better with time.

Miami played one solid team outside of the MAC and got drilled in Iowa City. Now, that being said . . . They were clearly the best team in Ohio at the end of the year.

Utah throttled Texas A/M and North Carolina. There isn't a team outside of Oklahoma on our schedule that we've played thus far that wouldn't be less than a 2 to 3 TD underdog against both of them.

Miami had a great QB, a wonderful O-line and a pretty solid D.

Utah has a top-notch QB, one of the better receivers in the country and a solid running game and a solid D.

I'll take the Utes over Miami.

I can't speak about Texas A&M but the Tar Heels football program is no where near the caliber of it's basketball program. They should have throttled the Tar Heels.
