"New Traditions" Card

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but when I was in the dorm moving my brother into his room, I noticed a bunch of little cards for people to take that was titled:
"The Card: A guide to NEW Falcon Athletic Traditions"

It says:
Immediately following every BGSU 1st Down:
PA Announcer will say "...good for a Falcon 1st Down!", to be followed by the Falcon Screech canned sound byte.
The Falcon Marching Band (FMB) will play one round of Ay Ziggy Zoomba and all fans will chant/sing "Roll along, you BG warriors, roll along, FIRST DOWN FOR B-G-S-U!"

After Every BGSU Touchdown Prior to Ensuing Kickoff:
Once the FMB is done playing after the Extra Point, BGSU Cheerleaders will be stationed in the four corners of the stadium leading a "Four Corners B-G-S-U Chant" up to the ensuing kickoff. Fans in each corner will be cued by the waving of "B", "G", "S" and "U" flags.

IMMEDIATELY Following Every 3rd Down Defensive Stop:
The FMB will play Iron Man and all fans will sway back-and-forth while holding the "Falcon Talon" hand signal up in the air with their RIGHT hand. A foam talon worn on the RIGHT hand may take the place of the "Falcon Talon" hand signal.

IMMEDIATELY Following Every Turnover Forced by BGSU:
The FMB will play Eat 'em UP while all fans repeatedly make the 1st down arm signal in the direction the Falcon offense will now be headed (similar to the "Tomahawk Chop" but sideways.) As the song comes to an end, all fans will chant/sing "Turnover, First Down, GO BG!!!"

SONGS, ...ETC.

Sweet Caroline Between the 3rd & 4th Quarters:
All fans will sing along with the chorus as the Neil Diamond version plays over the stadium PA system, fading out for the FMB to take over.

The ALMA MATER After Every Game:
All fans will sing along with the FMB

And on the back it has the words to the Alma Mater, AZZ and FF.

I don't know what anyone else thinks of these, but I just thought I'd ask.
Personally, I'm not too impressed with the 1st or 3rd down ones. I don't know how I feel about the twist on AZZ and I don't know what a "Falcon Talon" hand signal is, but I really do like that they're trying to increase fan involvement at the games.

I know some people weren't fans of Sweet Caroline being played at the hockey games, but I'm happy with it.

Anyway, what does everyone think?

I certainly applaud the effort, but I don't think many of these will catch on. The "crowd-in-unison" traditions that take hold and last are the ones that start organically in most cases. Robotic chants and motions handed down from the administration will likely be frowned upon by students.

The 3rd down stop one is kind of cool though. Where can I buy a foam Falcon Talon? :)

The ideas are ok, could be better. I do like the one for turnovers

The B-G-S-U flags in each corner after a TD is cool and easy enough for all to do.

They're supposed to be handing the talons out at the gate before the first game.

I'm not completely sure, but I think Dayons made an avatar of the hand signal.

PGY, is close but one finger off  It's something like you're holding up three fingers like a claw. The only reason I know this is because I listened to the radio show podcast the other day and they mentioned all of this.

Getting rid of the the 1st and 10 chant is about as straight as the new logo ;-) . I am a big fan of Sweet Caroline though....

I just don't get the whole "Sweet Caroline" thing. What does that have to do with BG? Did I miss something in the decade I spent on campus? And if it is going to be played then the band should play it. I am a purist in that way of thinking. College football = marching band, not some damned recorded hawk screech or a Neil Diamond song. The "first and ten" thing was starting to really catch on by the end of last season and now we are starting all over again, smart move there. I HATE changing the words to Ay Zig. I kinda like the flag thing after touchdowns but I am afraid they are squeezing to much into a short amount of time between the extra point and kick off. I have a feeling the band will get screwed on this one. The touchdown thing also seems a little Ohio Stateish (O..H..I..O.. around the shoe) or Penn Stateish ("We Are...Penn State..."). If they want it to work then they need to go into the residence halls and pass these things out and go through them with the students. If they don't work on that kind of grass roots level it just won't work. Overall I feel a "Whippleing" of more of our traditions has just happened.

Sweet Caroline is awesome in Fenway, now everyone else starts doing it and it sucks. the others don't seem too bad, though I don't really like enforcing traditions, they should just happen, but that sweet caroline pisses me off. That shouldn't be played anywhere outside of Boston.

I'd love to see them do a Texas A&M and have a pep rally before each game. Go over cheers, have some coaches talk, give away free schawg.

Also, what in the blue hell is a "Falcon Talon?" Is it anything like Hook 'Em Horns?
