MAC Predictions...

I have the divisions shaking out like this...
East
1) Kent State
1) BGSU
3) Ohio
4) Miami
5) Akron
6) Temple
7) Buffalo
The winner of the BG at Kent game on 10/20 wins the East, IMO.
West
1) WMU
2) Ball State
3) CMU
3) UT
3) NIU
6) EMU
I see WMU as the fave in the West with everyone but EMU in the hunt. And EMU could be improved as they lost a lot of close games last year. The MAC is VERY balanced right now and in all honesty, the only thing that would surprise me is Buffalo playing EMU for the title.
Any thoughts?

Let me just start by saying that the MAC is ridiculously tough to predict this year, just because of the previous season being about traditional powers sucking and traditional doormats doing well. I don't see any really elite teams within the conference except maybe Central Michigan. Even they graduated some good talent into the NFL so they might be down a bit.
A lot of my picks are based on the schedule, since the cross-division games could determine who has the easiest path to Detroit.
East Division
1.Bowling Green
2.Ohio
3.Miami
4.Kent State
5.Akron
6.Temple
7.Buffalo
West Division
1.Central Michigan
2.Ball State
3.Western Michigan
4.Toledo
5.Northern Illinois
6.Eastern Michigan
The West is clearly the better of the two conferences, and there is no clear favorite in the East. I honestly think that 5-3 with some tiebreakers will probably win the East Division. Really, the East could have as many as 5 teams contending for the title, Temple and Buffalo are the only teams out of it. Looking at the schedule, Akron is at a HUGE disadvantage because they have to play both WMU and CMU. Kent has to play CMU, while Miami has a game against Ball State. Ohio and Bowling Green have the easiest roads, getting EMU and Toledo, so I put them at the top, with BG getting the nod because of their near perennial dominance against OU (plus the game is in BG).
In the West, Ball State and Central Michigan have the best quarterbacks and best offenses in the conference by far, so I put them 1-2. WMU has both of these teams at home this season, but I don't think they are quite as strong all around. Toledo should be improved, but will have to start winning on the road to move up past CMU, WMU, and BSU. Honestly, if Toledo was in the East I might pick them to win it, that's how little I think of the East going into this season.
Central Michigan will defeat Bowling Green in the MAC Championship. CMU heads to the Motor City Bowl, Bowling Green goes to the GMAC Bowl, and Ball State gets to go to the International Bowl.

I'll give it a shot, but I think the MAC will be crazy this year..
East
Ohio
BG
Kent
Akron
Miami
Temp
Buff
West
Ball St
NIU
UT
CMU

Definitely not what all the experts are saying, but I think there will be lots of funny upsets this year. I think Ohio will beat Ball State for the MACC. I think BG will be fighting for a bowl game along with NIU & UT.[/u]

I agree with this right up to the MACC. I think we can beat CMU in that game to win the MAC. I know I wear those orange colored glasses due to being a parent, but I am really fired up about this team. If we had a choice I would want to go to the GMAC bowl. I have tons of family in Alabama and we have already talked about the gathering of the Partridge clan in Mobile if this worked out this way.

Wow this is really tough, this may be the most wide open the MAC has ever been, except for for Buffalo, Temple, and EMU I could see all the teams making it to the title game. In the East I think there will be a tie at top, with as many as four teams involved, In the West I think WMU and CMU are the favorites. As for BSU, I think they improve and knock off either NIU or UT, but not both.
East:
1. BG
1. Kent
1. Miami
1. Ohio
5. Akron
6. Temple
7. Buffalo
West
1. WMU
2. CMU
3. Ball State
3. UT
3. NIU
6. EMU

Temple, EMU, and Buffalo are down in there. 3 teams that are on our schedule and we SHOULD beat. Losing to any of those three teams basically means we aren't worth a darn and won't be contending for the MACC.
