Memphis a BCS school?

This is from this week's game notes:

"BGSU is 3-5 versus the BCS conferences in the last four years, capturing wins over Memphis (52-35), Northwestern (28-24) and Purdue (27-26)."

Did I miss something? Memphis a BCS school? Is someone at the SID's office not doing their job?

"Not doing their job" is pretty extreme. Just a mistake made. I have a lot of respect for our SIDs and the jobs they do.

Three wins is correct, but the third isn't Memphis, it's Temple (W 70-16) from 2004 because they were still in the Big East then. Memphis just looks a bit more impressive.

I doubt the SID is typing up the report himself, but someone in that office is. Never let the truth get in the way of a good BCS win, I guess.

MarkL: Good call.
