MAcMans "recap" report, thoughts and impressions

1. A win is a win and BG should have taken good time to celebrate this victory
2. Good to see that GB put a quality QB in to start. TS is good and should have played all last year as any he was and other QB's were better than AT last season. i would have enjoyed seeing TS last year and i would have enjoyed seeing how good he could have been with a year under his belt to start this season.
3. The O line can play anywhere
4. the d played well but with the variation in intensity from Minnesota from out right pathetic to acceptable it would be hard for any team to play consistently against that.

Minnesota played like crap. I never saw MIN play any series to their even near potential, my guess is they will work it about mid season. To bad for them and my friends kid.

5. GB again however still scares me...he pulled the plug on the O and attempted do what this O is incapable of doing. Run time off the clock. this o is all about putting points on the board and when you have some one down, you just jamb it further down their throat untill their guts get pushed out their rears. He pulled the plug and tried to manage the clock which in the end is what opened the door for MIn to come back and nearly take it all away.
if TS never throws a pass again past 8 yards it wont matter, he and the o move the ball well, better, far better than the spring game could have ever indicated. I saw an o that was better than OJ O.
6. the tempo of this O needs to rapid and furious if this team will have success.
7. The punt formation is an abomination, we got lucky.
8. we have a punter...
9. we have kicker
we have WR with hands that are getting more sure, and they have speed after the catch.

I am curious to see what happens this weekend vs MI STATE I think it will be a far better yard stick about what we have than what this was. I was wrong about Minnesota..I dont know where that team was but they were not on that field mentally. I hope GB recognizes that his best way to protect a lead is to keep putting points on the board until the gun sounds because clock mgt does not work. We have a good team ( I still disllike the fact that we have a pot head and thug on the roster, and GB's marriage to that PF, and that he rolled off the throtlle in the Second and 3rd QT's and only bought the O back on line in the last min of the game. That dog wont hunt against a better oponent).

A win is a win against any Big 11 opponent. We all know what GB did in the 2nd half in terms of shortening the playbook and being ultra conservative, but he made the adjustments he needed to make on the final drive of the game to tie things up.

There are way more positives than negatives to take away from this game, regardless if Minnesota wasn't mentally prepared or not. They should have been, new coach, new scheme, no better way to welcome change than with a W. The Gophers couldn't stop the BG offense until BG's line started making some sloppy mistakes. BG could and should have rolled up 28-35 points in the first half.

The punt formation, while it is still the formation from hell, was much much better than last year's version. I never saw one punt be contested and our guys got down the field with relative ease to cover.

Yes, there are things to improve on, but this win was a big step forward for this program this year. I hope you can realize that, back off on this team and show some support now that they've proven to you that they can indeed play with the big boys.

I wasn't drunk, so I'm pretty sure my eyes were working, but the punt formation I saw against Minn looked nothing like the formation I saw last year.

Did I miss something?

It wasn't nearly as spread out, and the it seemed that the 3 guys hanging behind the snapper were much closer and tighter to the LOS than last year. It was executed much better and honestly it looked like WVU's and Auburn's formations from that night.

Yes, we all feel terrible for your friend's kid. Buy him a new puppy.

Should we all start labeling our post titles with our names now?

Just for conversation's sake, let's accept your premise that BGSU has one pothead and one thug on the roster of 100 players. What percentage of college programs have less than that on their roster? 1%? 0.4%? If those numbers are too high for your liking, why do you pay any attention to college football?

that ranks right up in there with yank it the shower
the real measure should be this weekend against a St team that seems to really play. if Bg plays like they did this week they will loose, if they keep a foot on the gas they can win.
that is a quality personal attack you put up there...quality.

Damn, BO! My guts are hurting from laughter.

I love this team. Love the opening night win and can't wait to see how we meaure up against a solid MSU team. Dantonio is all about discipline and they hammered UAB> I know UAB was only 3-9 last year and only has 8 total starters back this year but still.

If BG is gonna beat Sparty, we need to play 4 quarters like the 1st half Sat night. Awfully tough for a MAC school to beat BiG 11 teams back to back but it can happen!

Loadin' up the Freakmobile Friday as I have the day off...Life is grand.

BTW, falconboy...awesome new avatar. FB is servin' that dude.

GO FALCONS!!

Am I the only one that sees a MACMAN post and all I can read is "Blah blah blah blah blah, the Hockey program is better than the Football program, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah."???
