MSU Trip Info

This is for anyone making the trip up to EL on Saturday. Does anyone know of any road closures or areas where traffic will be high?
Also, where is everyone planning on parking? Here is the parking map I found on MSU's website for football parking:
According to their site, the lot next to Munn Ice Arena is a "family" lot which means no booze. Can any MSU fans give us an idea of where the out of towners can park and tailgate?

Drew,
I sent a PM to MichState04 asking what lots would be best so visiting fans could TG together. I'm sure he'll have some info for us soon.

Yeah I got your PM. I am glad I can help, I think that it's awesome to have visitors in for the game. Unfortunately because UAB is so far away (and really not very good) they did not travel anyone. There are only 4 D1 schools closer than BGSU so I am expecting a decent turnout of Falcon Fans which makes the tailgating experience that much better! I know I always have fun when we travel to some road games, it is a change of scenery.
As I posted on a different thread there is a public lot just west of the stadium which is shown on the map in pink with a (P). It is a grass field so if it is really wet before the game, they wont open it. If you are staying in Lansing the best way over would be I-496 east to Exit 8 Trowbridge Rd. Trowbridge will run you right into a traffic light (Harrison Rd) and you will turn left. That will take you to Shaw Rd and you will turn right on that. In the distance you will see the Stadium and on the left you will see a big field (with cars in it hopefully). You just pull up and pay $15 and you are in. The lot will open at 7am and they do not allow drinking in that lot, but you can as long as you keep it under wraps. If they see people acting crazy, they will bust you. There are other lots where you can drink, but they are a good distance from the stadium.
If you are looking for a place to hang out on Friday night before the game, downton East Lansing is a better bet than Lansing. Follow the same directions as to the stadium except go straight on Harrison all the way to Michigan Ave and turn right...that takes you right downtown. All different kinds of bars and clubs....my favorite is Buffalo Wild Wings of course. It is not a huge town so you can walk from place to place and the choices are endless.
I am hoping for an injury free Saturday and a great game! We are hoping to do well in the conference, but beating tOSU would be a chore, UMAA would be a more likely start at this point.
Hope this helps...if you have any more questions PM or post...

As I posted in the other thread, I'm planning on parking near the three lots to the east. I don't really want to push it with tailgating in a non-alcohol lot.

I believe my crew and I are going up Friday night depending on Goofyeuph. If we do go up Friday, we're hitting up The International Tuba Museum. GREAT BEER!

That sounds like a good idea, Drew. It's only a few blocks to the stadium. I think we should shoot for the lot closest to the Red Cedar River so BG fans know where to look.
MichState04,
Do you think this plan sounds good? Thanks.

That lot next to the river to the east of the stadium is only about a 10 minute walk to the stadium. It is right by "the rock" a big frat tailgate area so you will definately get some abuse over there..but you can drink beverages over there

So, where are most of the BG fans tailgaiting? What lot? It'd be nice to be a lot with many Falcon fans

I'm planning on parking directly East of Lot N on the map.

Hmmm....that could be trouble as the Freaklings don't do too well with abuse. LOL! CMU fans found that out a couple years ago but most CMU fans are aholes to begin with.
I'm all for finding one lot we could all meet. I hope to have us there by 9:30 at the latest...

MichState04,
Can you give directions how to get to the Public lot just to the East of Lot N, then? We would be coming from the West on I-96, as would most BG fans I'm assuming. I'm from Grand Rapids, MI, so I know the interstates, but not the specific exits/roads. Should we get on 496?
Drinking is allowed in this lot, correct?

If I'm bothered by any MSU students, I plan on screaming "Go Appalachian State!"
This is also my plan for free beer.
